Bagin has good presence on the ice. The problem is, Khachaturyan proved to be extremely stiff while Stavitskaya has no ability as a dancer.

As for the rumors, Nastya Skoptsova posted something on her instagram stories that indicates Elena hasn't been at Medvedkovo while Ruslan seems to be spending a lot of time working with the pairs skaters there.

I saw that too, but I had the hope that they maybe were gone together to get their programs done. :(

I saw some recent pics of Victoria and Nikita with some kids...
And Elena Tchaikovskaya was speaking about them that they will be (again :)) in the top, but they have to overcome an issue (very vague):scratch2:
Personally, I don't believe the rumour... I don't see how Elena and Nikita could be again a couple after what happened.

He still is. Why change of heart now? Last time I checked she was naming S/B as olympic hope.

Ahh, you mean she criticized Bukins? I didn't know that...anyway, I think she was very gentle with them if indeed she did that:biggrin::laugh2:

I think it would be very surprising but I can see it possibly happening, I don't even think it really requires much imagination. Nikita doubtless thought he'd do much better with Viktoria than he's done. After 3 years together they have a total of 2 GP medals, both from last year, not even this year. Their results if anything are getting worse. For whatever reason they aren't able to train with the coach they wanted to train with. He can't even get on the World team; the Fed seems to think that for sure S/B have passed him. It's not easy to see a way they'll be on the Oly team. He wants to be on the Oly team. It's been 3 years for him to get over whatever negative emotions he had at the time of the split and think of things more logically. He may well have come to a place where he feels like OMG what have I done?

Getting Elena back on board with him might seem trickier, but she's not an idiot. It has genuinely seemed she's enjoyed skating with Ruslan and their coaching team, but she knows their actual results, which like Nikita and Viktoria's are getting worse not better. She hasn't even been on a Euros team in two years, forget Worlds. For whatever reason the move to Igor didn't work or was aborted; her current coaches have never had a team who won any major medal on the Senior level. If Nikita managed to approach her in the right way, and convince her that he was sincere, can I say I think he'd have an impossible time to convince her? No.

Everything is possible, of course, and the Russians are the best in creating controversies and drama:dev2:
But in this scenario presented above, Nikita should admit he did a mistake when he left :D. I don't know if his internal structure allows him to make this :D. He seems a very proud person.:sad21:

And you really think he is capable of changing? Let`s say these rumors are true, what exactly can he say and do to prove that this time it will be different? He has dumped Elena twice and there are rumors that he has shown abusing behavior towards Viktoria. I doubt someone like that can fundamentally change.

It doesn't matter what I think, it matters if he could convince Elena. And that's up to her.

Of course as another poster said this assumes a lot to begin with- like that he could admit he was wrong.

If this were actually true, and not simply fan fiction, which I think it is, just him asking her to reunite would constitute admission of fault. Its just that Victoria and Ruslan would be left out in the cold, or more specifically Ruslan.

Come on. No way Ilinykh will want to skate with Katsalapov. He cant twizzle, odd mistakes on steps and lifts. Either he hits his partner or have serious shoulder injury which stops him to go USA. Stupid really. Even for russian federation.

It's time to move forward, not backwards. Psychologically Katsalapov is not stable, he's a great mover in the field but he struggles with his lifts and twizzles. He has difficulty accepting his shortcomings and likes to play the blame game. The federation needs to consider how they will groom their future dancers and learn from the best. If this is actually in the works they may probably eek out something of merit in the foreseeable future, but what happens after that, neither I or K is immortal :confused2:

I might be alone in this but I find it a terrible idea, even worse than their split back in 2014. They won't be better than S&B within 10 months (unless they expect for things to miraculously resume from where they left off or for Nikita to magically fix his twizzles), so their chances of making the 2018 Olympics are next to zero. I could see them making the 2018 World team but I think it would be better for B&S to delay their retirement until after Worlds in hopes of securing three spots for Russia, getting advantage of some top teams inevitably missing from Milan.
2022 is 5 years away and they will be 28 & 30 in a discipline that's becoming ever more physically demanding. Yes, they're talented but they're not Tessa & Scott.
The sport has moved on, the judges have moved on, it's time the fans did too.
Not to talk about completely ruining the careers of Viktoria & Ruslan. Again.

Russian ice dance is at its lowest moment of all time so how could this make things worse? First time ever no pre Olympic medalist at Worlds! No contender for medal! If Russian federation is desperate this is as good a thing to do as giving more money to b/S or S/b. When I posted I/k would break up I didn't think their careers would end. Both of their careers have ended and the careers of Sinitsina and zhiganahin have ended and Russian ice dance is basically dead.

Not surprised about the rumours, not surprised if it's true or not. The thing is, both partners have regressed technically since then, at least in my opinion - I know people will disagree. Couple that with the fact that they would have less than six months to have programs ready for Rostelecom, or some Senior B, and actually compete without either falling on the ice or losing a twizzle here and there.

Also, Sochi was their once in lifetime opportunity to win a medal, and they did it. They won't have the stars aligned once again, and I truly see a stint like this as career ending for both.

But they know better than me, I guess. But it would put all this victimization of some skaters into perspective.

How can you move forward when the formed partnerships after Sochi are both trainwrecks? Let's be real here, people. S/K and I/Z are not going anywhere. They might as well try. At this point, they have nothing to lose. As some people have said in this forum, both teams have deteriorated massively over the course of one season and all in all, have wasted 4 competitive seasons. Desperate times, desperate measures, and if there is anybody that's desperate, it's the Russian Fed.

There's a difference between pulling the goalie in the final minutes of a hockey game to try to get an extra goal and pulling the goalie when you are losing by 6 goals. Both Elena and Nikita have a ton of issues that will not be fixed and at this point, it's probably better to take the loss and use the money to pay for proper coaching for Shpilyaeva and Smirnov

That's a good plan for 2022! They must be sent to dubreil or spiliband and the money must be used to buy their place as the number 1 team.

If there's any Russian team that should be sent to Dubreil and Lauzon, it should be Tiffany and Jon. One, there will be no whatsoever language barrier as they're both fluent in English. She's fluent in French too. Two, Zhulin's vision is not doing them any wonders. Three, wouldn't it be nice to see a Russian team compete with Montreal-style programs? It would surely be a breath of fresh air.

Elena and Nikita are better together than apart, on the ice at least. He's an idiot, and he should issue her a public apology. He doesn't have to take out a billboard or anything, a simple interview admitting he made a mistake would be a start. Elena made her mistakes but she's no worse than he is. She didn't deserve to be thrown to the dogs the way she was. So,even if this is true, in order to make the Olympic team in 2018 they would have to have one stellar season, I mean, complete consistency which is something that they haven't ever done. That's a lot of pressure on a precarious partnership. Nikita has technical problems that top coaches have not been able to fix and they both have psychological issues that leech into their skating. They would need to do a lot of work with a sport psychologist (does Russia have those?)to help salvage their working relationship. Unless they are getting back together, laying low, putting the work in, and focusing on the next quad, with Beijing as their goal... That, to me, is more realistic than trying to claw back three lost years in 11 months. They could have a shot at the world championship medals in 2018, if enough top teams skip that event. Morozov as their coach, really? Maybe for the skating skills, but what's he going to do for them artistically, he didn't exactly do anything groundbreaking for Weaver and Poje. Hopefully they could work with Najarro for choreo. Just my two cents.
