yeah, yeah....forgive my "french" . Of course, I did not mean she was overweight medically rather she somewhat rounded up and did not look very fit during last year test skates. But it was opposite to bashing - my whole idea was to point to her impressive current shape.

Adelina COULD compete with the best if she had the motivation to. Even if she remained inconsistent, she'd have top PCS marks and probably not be any less consistent than Anna P., for example.

I can respect her lack of motivation and the enjoyment she gets from doing shows. But stop teasing us by continuing to say you'll compete! Though I assume she's keeping the option open in case she feels a fire under her butt in 2017. Still think it'd be better for her overall reputation if she pulled a Virtue/Moir: no competitions until you're willing to totally commit.

I'm so glad Julia is sticking with it and giving it a good fight. I think her whole goal was to make the Olympics and she was quite successful up to that point. After tremendous disappointments and struggles she still shows up. I hope she gives us many more good memories and continues to grow that unique take on skating she is known for. She could have given up the fight and I don't think anyone would have faulted her but she seems to still have something to offer. She helped lead a pack of youthful Russian Wonderkids to the top and now maybe she can lead them into a land of maturity past the days of wonder jumping.

All right, quoting myself because I just saw that Adelina is apparently going to the test skates, so I must assume this means that she does intend to compete this season. Now I'm confused...

I feel like I remember reading an article months ago that was somewhere on GS where Adelina had said she was skipping GP, but intended to skate at Nationals, I assume for purposes of trying to get selected for Euros and Worlds so maybe that's why she is at test skates.

I personally would like Adeline to stay in competition since she still has so much to offer. After Sochi, her performance gets even better so as long as she gets most of her jumps back... She is the very few skaters that I enjoy watch even when the jumps are not there.

Well, yes, naturally - that is what I find confusing, since apparently she's doing shows until mid-December, so when will she have the time to do the proper training? That's why I first thougt that she was skipping this season entirely - but apparently she's not.

Oh, well. I suppose we'll see what happens.

Do not drag Anna into this, for she is already a World medalist.

I think the press and some fans are really hard on Adelina because of her unexpected win in Sochi, and she might get lost somehow for her future. Honestly her chances of returning to the competitive ice are very slim.

Adelina has done very few competitions since her win. I will give her the first season after her OGM since she was hurt, but last season and this season she is only dabbling in competitions, instead focusing more on shows. It is easy to talk about wanting to win every competition in sight, but it is a lot harder to apply yourself and put in the work needed to win. Adelina does not seem motivated to put the work in to be competitive IMO. This is not a criticism of her. Just the vibe I get.

I agree. I'm not sure that she could replicate her Sochi form even if she worked harder than before since she is older and hasn't trained or competed much the last few years. Maybe she wants to see if Evgenia's form dips because if it doesn't, Adelina really has no shot at any big titles.

Being Russian in figure skating automatically gives a ladies skater about 5 extra points. So all these girls need to do is skate clean.
This 2016-17 season will be fierce!! I expect maria sotskova to make a name for herself. She won't get edge calls because she is russian, and her technical content is very difficult. The other newbie Russian girl this year, serefima, has had some trouble in the last year or so, but she also has very strong technical content. I even have her and julia both as a dark horse for the skate america podium.
I think evgenia will have no trouble this season. I think she'll start doing rippon jumps and distance herself from the competition.
Tuktemysheva just needs to land that 3A and the judges will remember how much they loved the former world champ. I predict she will do well this season.
Elena........ Better programs?? Does it even matter?? All that matters is the judges love her, and she gets those high scores. I'm not counting her out yet.
Do you guys think at least 4 Russians can make the GP Final this year? I do.

High ranking skaters are always favored by the judges, whatever nationality they are. Just saying this without any context sounds really strange to me. It is not snarky but rather out of place here.
