Man, so excited for this season actually. Will Liza regain her jumps? Will it be a true comeback for Yulia? And maybe for Adelina?

Does anyone know how entries are made for B events. I noticed the entries are out for Finlandia and Russia will be represented by Liza, Anna, and Sima. Does the Fed decide this based on test skates or is it the skaters that decide to put in for the event.

1. After watching this and her training clips from latest Sharov's interview, I'm no longer rolling my eyes at people predicting Sotskova pulling off a "Med", "Rad" or "Lip" in her first competitive season. It gets tougher with every year, but may happen - the girl is clearly in form.

2. You wonderful, tough, ambitious girl, Julia Lipnitskaya. How on mother earth did you manage to get into such shape? :reye:
I hope you can jump those 3-3s. Because if you can...

3. My short personal rant on Adelina Sotnikova: I might have some sight problems or am completely ignorant regarding athleticism in figure skating, otherwise I can't understand why this girl is not progressing. She has monster vertical leap, great naturally sporty body and innate musicality. Few pounds less should not be problem for top skater, used to sacrifices and tough regime through her whole life, supported by beloved coach, best CSKA staff and facilities. It have to be either motivational problems or she deliberately went on with her life, keeping that fact to herself.

Anyway, good luck dear ladies!

About Adelina. When i watched that news clip, when she was in this training camp, i thought she looked like a 12yo- as if she lost weight. I think she is not in a "less good" shape than Asada or Wagner. She is a woman and has a womanly body. If people expect her to look like an underweight 15 yo, well, it won't happen

I'm amazed at how many excuses people have, "reasons" for why she shouldn't come back again. She is "too old", "too fat", "too slow", "too lazy", she isn't doing enough jumps, she is not at the GP's that's why she MUST retire, (even when GP's aren't that important), ect. ect. AFAIK she is doing ice shows since the beginning of the year- she my be tired by now. But people see ONE video on YouTube and think they can judge her "form" based on that one video.

You know, she can be in competitive skating for 10 more years if she wants. Maybe she is a late bloomer like Costner and Wagner. Just bc you're not brilliant at 19 it doesn't mean you'll never be brilliant. I'm sure people gave up on Costner and Wagner, but oh well..... And no, i don't think these little girls are a real threat to her. I'm sure many things will change in the future and i'm sure sloppy 15 yo won't have a chance to win competitions anymore. :noshake:

Anyway, good luck to Adelina, i hope she Will come back stronger than ever and shock those, who doubted her

This competitions just arent' important. And that she won the OGM is irrelevant. She was just a 17 yo teen at the beginning of her career. She wasn't good enoug to win other competitions but maybe she Will be on that level when she is older - a late bloomer.

I like Adelina and I like her skating. Personally, I want her to do whatever SHE feels SHE should do with her skating career. I've said it before earlier in this thread, sometimes I wonder if she actually WANTS to continue to compete, but feels like she HAS TO in order to prove her naysayers wrong. This poor girl has gotten so much hatred thrown towards her since her controversial OGM, probably moreso than any figure skater I can think of who's had an amateur career in the the 21st century. I think it's hard for any of us to understand what she went through, receiving multiple death threats and having vile, disgusting things written about her by thousands of people - all for showing up to the Olympics, skating her best, and the judges deciding that she was the winner. She probably feels an intense amount of pressure to get back into her old form, even though she may be more inclined to doing shows and touring.

Or maybe I'm totally wrong about this, as I could be. I just want Adelina to be happy, whether it's training and competing full throttle, or only skating at Russian nationals, or not competing at all.

I think Adelina is fine. While there are fans all over the world who agreed or disagreed with the result in Sochi, the actual bullying itself (rude comments, etc.) was done almost exclusively by South Korean fans. She knows this, and it's not too different from what Mao and Yuna experienced from each others' fans. Almost every prominent female skater experiences this; I think Mirai, Ashley and Gracie have all made public statements about the criticism they receive online. That's just the world we live in now with Instagram, Twitter, etc.

Well, there were people saying, in effect, that she was a washed-out-has-been who would never amount to anything when she was 16; that's why I started to cheer for her. And because I cheered for her, I started to like her. (Previously, I didn't dislike her, but her skating had done nothing much for me.)

Look at current russian seniors and the lineup. You cannot just allow yourself not doing your best every year.
She could do something like that if she was the only skater, but thats not the case.
Not all over by 19, but you cannot just not do your best and stay afloat - there are only 3 spots, after all, and she doesn't have it granted.

I honestly don't think Adelina is saying or thinking she can win without a lot of work on the jumps and endurance as well as being injury free. No one is suggesting that. But some skate because they love to skate and obviously she doesn't mind the critique ie this site. I mean the woman/girl skated her fs without several elements - she knows she can't win like that. But it is a step process if she wants to return to competitive skating. In Russia you certainly and she would know be a contender or even a pretender with content like that.

I was talking in general. There's a reason why people say these things and don't think about that it's not the end of the world if she is skipping some small competitions or doesn't do like 8 triple jumps in a program
If it's were Mao or someone else i think nobody would say "she won't come back" and blah blah

Well, I think the same about Mao too - not sure if she will remain competitive for long: with all the talended japanese skaters in line, she may end up out of worlds team quite easily.

Nothing wrong with that, its just that there are many great skaters and max 3 spots by country. Noone says Adelina should stop skating - she can do whatever she wants ^^ - but if she wants to compete, she needs to fix her issues because she won´t be able to even go to major competitions.
