She said she was going to prove herself worth of OGM. Well... this is certainly a way of proving herself... by not competing in any world championships since her OGM.

It's probably tough to find the motivation when you've already won the biggest prize. At this point, I'm not sure that she could regain the form that she displayed in Sochi.
She could do minor competitions like Japan Open as Joannie Roachette did for few years after 2010 Olympics.

I just got caught up on all the golden spin videos. What's the deal with Liza going back to the Carmina Burana program? Didn't she ditch that program mid season last year? Sigh. I really and truly want Liza to regain her 2015 form, but flip flopping between so many programs is not going to help her do that; quite the opposite, in fact.
Also, I see that she resurrected the one naked boob dress. I was really hoping somebody tossed it into a fire last year.

No such luck. That's probably what they did to the first Carmina dress, though, the one I liked... (sulks)
Meanwhile, agreed re your other points. I'm honestly at a loss as to what is going on.
I didn't agree with ditching Cleopatra, but.. they could justify that with it "not working"; but the SP was going fine! She had regained some stability and consistency with it... Then why go and tinker?!
As a fan I can only say: Woe, woe, thrice woe!
And if she has another dream, she could use her income from shows and prize money to fund it...
Joannie is off the circuit now because she is in medical school! Who knows what other dreams Adelina may be keeping in her heart....

Luckily no one needs to prove themselves worthy of winning an OGM if they've already won it - the winning of it already proves they are worthy of it.

Zagitova has nice looking jumps, and she does them all in the bonus. I think she could be winning senior GP events now, so hopefully she can maintain her form in the coming years.

I don't know why some people hate backloading. It's very different and very challenging to that so I find it fascinating when a skater does that. I love Zagitova's huge jumps and her hand positions in the air. She has musicality. Don Quixote is very balletic, needs quite precise movements and she really nailed. A very deserved win.
For me, most skaters who are into backloading just can't hold my attention, I often find myself being bored by the first half, and then it's suddenly all jumps. Also, in the past, the step sequence often used to be the highlight of a program, and now it's more a filler to get to the halfway mark to finally start with the jumping, and this is really disappointing.
The only exception for me is Evgenia's short program this season, her last year's short program on the other hand was another one of the backloaded programs I didn't like.

Its a rather normal thing over here: when a skater does a technical *** and beats other skaters, their fans get all "omg *** is so not cool, they should decrease the PCs because this clearly hurts performance"

I question how challenging it actually is to backload a short program though, it's only a 2:40 duration. In a 4+ minute free program it's definitely a lot harder to backload after the two minute mark... I've always thought it would make more sense to give a 5% bonus in the short and keep the 10% bonus for the free.

Very challenging. Not many skaters would even try to attempt such a thing. Unless they want to score less than other skaters who are backloading, I guess? Why would someone want to do that?
It it was easy, all skaters would do it because the 10% is a big difference for SP.
You know, when you start with spin, then stsq and only then you're jumping - it's challenging anyway.
But as you saw - it's not really help in TES. Kaetlyn Osmond with two (!) jumping elements in the begining got over 40 points. Evgenia won less than 2 points by TES. With arm over her head and all jumps in the second half. But all it gave Zhenya higher PCS because of complex program. Agree, especially in her free skating to land all of these tricky jumps like the Lutz with two hands, or the flip with two hands at the end of the program and hit the music accents it was really amazing to watch.
I think a backloaded program is a very modern approach, Eteri's team were the first to believe in this and looking at Miyahara or Higuchi with their backloaded ltz-toe this season i think a lot of skaters will try it in the future; many viewers are uncomfortable with it probably just because they are not used to it.
Talking about the GP SP: they found a way to leave Maria out of the competition already, and probably even Elena at this point, while Anna could still aim for something.
