It's Skate Canada after all. What else would one expect?hwell:
hwell:After reading reports that Canadian crowds routinely start leaving before a competition is over, while skaters are still competing on the ice, just to get a head start on traffic, I will never attend a competition in Canada.

No one, hopefully!! Is this the same reaction you had to the Russian horde filing out of Sochi prior to the men's individual competition once they found out Plushenko had withdrawn?
And an anti-Canadian never attending a Canadian event eh? Needless to say, your presence will be sorely missed. No doot aboot it.![]()

Well, to get things back on track...
Not too much Canadian action this week in Russia but Seguin and Bilodeau will look to lock up a berth in the GPF.
I don't doubt they'll win silver, but does anyone think it will be possible to beat S/M if they're clean and the latter have some hiccups?
Also curious to see where W/P are, as they're competing against C/B and B/S. I have no idea how that top three is going to shake down, though the way the Americans scored last week I'd expect them to win here. B/S and W/P will be an interesting head to head matchup, especially in Russia.

topic: I still can't believe that happened. So here you are at your country's first Winter Olympics EVER, with hard-to-get figure skating tickets that probably cost an arm and a leg, but because the home country's favourite skater withdrawals, you just get up and LEAVE? I don't think Seguin/Bilodeau will be able to top them as I think Savchenko/Massot have better technical elements and flow across the ice. I am really excited for the pairs event as these are two teams who really demonstrate their love for figure skating, when I watch them I get the feeling that both teams are just incredibly grateful to just be on ice.
I like how chuckm continues to come to express his opinions and avoid those who have pointed to evidence of his irrational hatred for Canadian fans. Seriously some of it should be considered discrimination and not allowed on this forum.

Oh, I'm so excited and nervous to see WeaPo! I hope they show up and blow everyone's minds.
How does everybody feel about WeaPo in relation to Tessa and Scott's return? While I love V/M as much as the next person does, the whole situation with WeaPo being regulated back to number two hurts my heart. :sad21: I wonder if it played a part in their move to Russia? I realize there were a lot of other factors that lead to the move as well, but I could see this as a big reason for wanting to make a change.

Mind blowing.

Guys....I don't hate anyone. I just have opinions, which are based on observation and logic. I have opinions about some US skaters, too, which makes me unpopular with their fans. It just seems as if Canadian fans are particularly sensitive and can't tolerate any criticism whatever when it comes to their skaters.
I don't consider ANY skater perfect. They all have flaws.
BTW, over on FSU they have a project called THE JUDGES TABLE which does a review of each GP event. They just did one of Skate Canada. If you think some of the things I said were harsh, DON'T go there! (and several of the contributors there are Canadian, too).

This is a discussion board. It is for OPINIONS. You often don't like my opinions, and sometimes I don't like yours. That's normal.
With much grousing from the Canadian fans..................
After reading reports that Canadian crowds routinely start leaving before a competition is over, while skaters are still competing on the ice, just to get a head start on traffic, I will never attend a competition in Canada.
4everchan verified that lots of people did leave before the competition was over.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF-9hA_xygcJust a brief answer because I don't want to go off-topic, I've never had a problem with most American accents because I've grown up watching American tv so I'm used to everything. The only word that I find very noticable is the word "roof" because I find Americans say very fast almost in the same way we would say "woof" but Canadians kinda stretch it out more!topic:
Canadians.....I don't know how many of you will understand this question but, I'm going to ask it anyway. How many of you make fun of American's for saying Ab(out), instead of Ab(oat). After some of our conversations last evening, I started thinking of all the good times I've have in Canada. I met a very nice man from Saskatchewan and we.....hung out for over a month as he followed our tour before we left the Country. He used to make fun of the way I talked and it used to crack me up. I was watching the Rick Mercer Report and Rick and Jann Arden went on a date. Rick got all excited to see her tour bus and She said "Everybody get's so excited Ab(oat) the buses. It made me crack up.

I think it was probably harder for the Russians as Plushy was the Man who had a chance at medaling. I'm sure the fans were heartbroken. There were people in tears after Jennifer Robinson fell during her Moon Ghost performance in Vancouver. I was sad for Elvis Stojko who fell during the SP and you could tell he was sad for not skating well. Remember when he said "Sorry" during his bows. That almost made me cry and I was cheering for Plushy. I always want to be happy and when they don't skate well, it always tugs my heart a little bit. Especially as I get older.
