I don't know, but I will actually scream in displeasure if USFS holds Ashley down on PCS, she winds up a few points out of the top 3, and then they select her for the team. I might just die.

For the most part, I think we can all agree that the judges were shockingly stingy on PCS, considering she received higher PCS internationally for far worse performances of that program.

I think i will scream too... and wonder if they all think all publicity is good publicity and actually want the bloody drama.

The judges were very weird...that is about the best i can say. I mean could they have not at least been generous to Ashley in the performance category? I mean really how can anyone say she should not at least lead that one?
 
But seriously, I don't think that the judges are playing political games or sending messages here. I think they are judging the performances as best they can and this is how it turned out so far.
 
It really doesn’t matter who the US sends for the Ladies. The best finish would probably be a 7th-12th place finish. Evgenia, Zagitova, Russian Girl #3, Satoko, Karamoto and Carolina will all be top 6. As seen at the US championships, only 3 ladies could do a clean SP.
 
I disagree that it doesn't matter. A place on the Olympic team is a much-covetted reward. The skaters work hard for it.

Oh right, I forgot that only potential Olympic medalists should go to the Olympics.
 
I'll stay out of the scoring debate. . . . Perhaps because we aren't first tier contenders this year I was just rooting for good performances, without heavily preferring anyone. On that count Angela was wonderful. Her music wasn't the best but the flow, turns, and edges were lovely to watch.

I also really appreciated Bradie's workman-like performance. There was something refreshing about someone just going out there and doing their job with no frills. Now in a couple seasons if Bradie doesn't develop artistically I'll probably have more to say, but for now I'll take it!

This might be strange because I do not care for some of the choreography overuse of tanos, etc. but as I was watching the programs I wanted to give props to the Russian ladies for their level of attack! It's a privilege to have so many skaters who go out there and push the envelope. It was that sense of fearlessness that I find lacking at the moment in the US. Even if I don't care for backloading, I love the chutzpah of trying it.

And that is why I have to give Mirai the ultimate props. Ugly landing or not I love that she's challenging herself in the latter half of her career.

Here's hoping that all the ladies perform to the best of their abilities in the free. :pray:

So many scores in the 40s yesterday!!!! Ugh!! Poor girls, I just don’t understand what is the problem with US ladies and keeping the nerves in check. (Mariah and Karen looked TERRIFIED before they began). Correct me if I’m wrong, but the only newbie who stepped up and made a good impression was Starr, I believe.
 
the 40's was the i think junior who jumped up to senior's. i agree alot of the skater's looked nervous ; understandably for the newbie's but the veteran's why.

alot on the line.
 
Yeah I think almost everyone in the 40s were just up from juniors or junior age, with a few exceptions - Katie McBeath - I can't find an age on her, but she's been a senior at least since 2012. Megan Wessenberg is almost 20. She's only in her second year as a senior from what I can tell. and in the low 50s is Franchesca Cheira and she has been a senior several years - several times winning her sectional, but not this year. - apparently she completely skipped the junior level going straight from novice to senior.

You put Karamoto there and not Osmond... yikes.

I think Mirai has a vague chance of being in the final group if she skates later in the SP and goes clean. I've worked out the points and she has the potential to score 75-77 with the 3A, even if her components are only 30-32 range.

Does anyone know how the SP is seeded? Is it by world ranking? If so, Mirai has a great chance of being in the last SP group.

There is no girl named Karamoto that's going to the Olympics... :slink:
There's Kaori Sakamoto...

Yes, I think it's WR. She might be!
Zagitova won't be in it, Sakamoto won't be in it, Osmond may or may not as her 2015-2016 didn't exist really...Sotskova might be... Ashley probably would be if she is sent but Tennell won't be...
 
It depends on Europeans but yeah both Mirai and Ashley could be in the final group if sent! Ashley is currently 8th but Anna Pogorilaya is above her and won't be in Pyeongchang. Its unlikely that ALL of these 3 skaters would be sent but Karen is currently 10th and Rika Hongo (9th) isn't going to the Olympics either so there's a chance 3 US ladies could be in the final SP group but I kinda doubt that will happen.
