The Cirque program was choreographed by Shae-Lynn Bourne & Shae Zukiwsky while the Whiter Shade of Pale FS was by Marie-France & Patrice. They switched to Marie-France & David for the FS last season. Not sure on whose advice, maybe Marie-France herself. Or maybe they also wanted the Tessa & Scott choreography duo. They spend time at Gadbois working with the ice dancers regularly so I'm not surprised about that influence. It may be that they find those 'fun' programs easier to do in the SP. They're high energy and with all the pairs requirements I can see it being tough to keep up the fast pace in an FS. What I am not sure of is why David is not getting them to try something new in the FS. He likes to get his skaters to try different types of programs...but then, this looks to be Marie-France's vision that he's helping bring to life.

Marie-France doesn't even choose Julianne and Charlie's music, though. Their coach picked their FS music last season. Marie-France is just working with what Josee Picard and S/B are willing to give her.

Canada's oly team will be interesting. First in the team even what will they do. Will the hard luck kids Weaver and Poje get to skate? Maybe not especially if the French qualify for the finals. Osmond and Daleman seem like a sure thing forthe ladies unless Chan refuses to do both. and in pairs what a mess. Duhamel and Radford are still no. 1 Seguin and Bilodeau need to rally have a stellar year after essentially two worlds with injuries and disaster. They could have been the Tarasova and Morozov team now they aren't even in the top ten. Or at leasat the James and Cipres team. Duhamel and Radford were a bit disappointed they were not treated with much respect at worlds. They were injured and didn't skate badly but were given no gifts that for sure as the reigniing world champs. For some reason some skaters like Savchenko are loved and get the marks and others like D and R have to really work at it. When Savchenko came back with her new partner the judge like gave her ten extra points. Canada has an outside shot at winning a medal in each event and if all things worked out which they won't Virtue and Moir, Duhamel and Radford, Osmond, Daleman, Chan and Weaver and Poje all would get medals in their event. this won't happen but they have some talent.

Thanks Skater Boy. I needed this, this morning. :laugh2:  Didn't you predict the downfall of Canada's skaters before Worlds this year? Instead, Canadians secured more Olympic spots than any other country...go figure?

Your constant 'shade' of Canadian skaters has no boundaries or pride.

I meant an outside shot of winning a medal in all four events. They certainly will win a medal and have a better chance than the US. But the stars aligning for them to win seven medals at the olympics will be next to impossible.

Chan should do both programs at team event, he will secure a team gold for team Canada by that way.

We've got a very early entry list for Championnats québécois d'été 2017: http://www.patinage.qc.ca/UploadsNew/Compétitions 2017-2018/CQE/ParticipantsCQE2017-05-29.pdf

The event this time around is a bit later than last year: http://www.patinage.qc.ca/pages.asp?id=444

But now I get why Thornhill Summer Skate is so late.

And some folks also found a list for Patinage Québec's 2017-2018 Équipe B: http://www.patinage.qc.ca/UploadsNew/Equipe_B_2017-2018.pdf

Has Patrick talked about his plan for the Olympics? Is he planning to do the team event? If he thinks it will be motivating for the rest of the team to skate in the team event, then more power to him. I just want to make sure that he is fresh for the Mens event. I want to see him on the Podium and I don't care what color the medal is. The Canadians have a great chance at winning the team event and if that's the way for him to get his Gold Medal, then go for it...

I think the biggest difference is that this time Patrick isn't a heavy favourite to medal in the in the individual event. If he wants an Olympic Gold Medal, he will most likely need to skate twice, since the dropoff between Patrick and either Kevin/Nam/Nick/etc... is a lot bigger than in any of the other disciplines. This decision, however, will be made based on which other nations (other than Russia/USA) will qualify for the free skate.

I think that's a fair assessment. You described the best possible scenario, which isn't how thing generally work out at the Olympics. Every big country has some medal surprises and some disappointments.

Why he's eating a mango, of course. :) He cut it himself, which is why he's got a knife.

Charlie Bilodeau appears to have had some knee surgery or a knee replacement done today: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DBLz3e9UwAAJRoS.jpg

FYI my favorite ice dancers right now are Virtue and Moir I just worry the judges will favour the French and V and M make errors ie worlds. And my favourite male skater is Chan it is too bad all we care about is quads. While there are a lot of Hanyu fans and very very very vocal ones there is something so pure and beautiful about Chan's skating even his jumps when he is on - there are still some quads unlike Jason Brown but he is a step above the rest though the judging world no longer sees it that way. And as for the ladies I love Osmond over all of them and like Daleman's spunk but I also still appreciate Evgenia even though there is so much hate. And while I really appreciate the power off S and M and the beauty of Sui and Han I kind of route for the underdogs - Duhamel and radford and the Russians in pairs. The Canadians in the past have not done well under pressure at the olympics - Orser, Browning, Underhill and martini, Brasseur and Eisler, Chan, Stojko,

thank you for explaining the difference between your wishes and favourites versus what you think the judges could go for....

it is true... for men, it's all about quads..

for ladies it's all about consistency and backloading

for dance it's mostly about levels and mistake can hurt

and for pairs, it's mostly about who the judges like ;) and that's either sui or aljona...

but please, as much as we know this may not work out to ... as much as we know Canadians have had bad outings or bad luck at the games, do we really want to talk about this for the next 8 months?

Here is a suggestion : let's remain hopeful and positive... let's send good vibes and energy... if ever our skaters don't make it, we will have no regrets... this thread is going to be very boring and long if all we hear for 8 months is:

I wish they would win... but Canadian curse...

LET"S BELIEVE!
