2017 Worlds Helsinki Info and Chat

If it happened the way most of the customers want, it will probably mean switching main arena and practice arena between men and ice dance on 1st April.
Which is exactly how it used to be on the previous schedule. http://www.helsinki2017.com/event/practices
So no, I don't think it'll do any good to write them to change it back. But if people want to try, that's really up to them. I understand very well how annoying it is if you cannot see your favorite in practice even once, no matter who that might be, one or more from the men, the ladies, pairs or ice dance. Especially annoying if you assumed from the previous schedule that you *would* get to see them in practice on Saturday.

So maybe they should just stop posting these subject to change practice schedules, because it's been changed a few times now and I doubt this newest schedule is gonna last all the way to the start of Worlds '17. ;)

Oh, I thought the idea was to ask them to simply swap Pairs and Men practices on the Thursday - so both would still be in Hartwall, but timing of Men's practice would allow more of the hordes of Hanyu fans to get there in time, and see it...?

That would put the Men's short competition right after their practice, though... which wouldn't work unless the competition starting order was the same as the practice order...? And even then, I don't know if a couple of hours between practice and competition would be enough for the skaters?

One of my favorite veunues for skating competitions! I haven't been there but they have been fantastic with previous worlds and Europeans competiions! Enthusiatic crowds! A good second place is Scandinavian arena in Gøteborg, Sweden. Both cities are 'musts' to visit!

Did the all-event passes sell out? I'm having a hard time finding them online....

Pretty sure they've been sold out for a while now. They're not available anymore on the ticket website, nor even listed on the official website's tickets page.

I want to go to the Worlds in Milan in 2018. Can someone give me a tip of when to stay on the lookout (for someone who's in UK) and what prices to normally expect at Worlds? I was hoping to go to Helsinki but unfortunately, things didn't pan out well. So, I'm really hoping Worlds next year can become a reality. So I'm just trying to gather any info I can get. Anyone got a good link with info?

Hm. About 4km? Maybe more on foot. Quite inconvenient. But it's only a couple of practice sessions? (One of the Monday Pairs sessions, and one of the Tuesday Pairs sessions). I don't think I'll be attending those ones, and I hope they don't move any more sessions there...!

I got some answers , in Finnish, from the organizers... The practices in Pirkkola: only 2 pairs practices, because it's too low for the pairs at "cave".
"Tämä johtuu siitä, että Hartwall Arenan harjoitushalli on liian matala pariluistelijoille. Yleisöllä on pääsy ainoastaan pääareenalla oleviin harjoituksiin."

And the ISU will confirm the practice times / orders after 6th March.
"ISU vahvistaa kaikki aikataulut ilmoittautumisajan päättymisen jälkeen. Ilmoittautumisaika MM-kilpailuihin päättyy 6.3. 2017."

There is no website yet, or if there is, it's well-hidden. I looked the other day but couldn't find anything.
In 2016, all-event and premium tickets for Helsinki 2017 went on sale mid-March, so I would expect Milano to go on sale sometime in March, too. But it's Italy, in my experience things do tend to go a bit less "strict" than in northern countries, if that's the right way to say it, so maybe it'll be a bit later. ;-)

Normal prices? Again, going by the prices for Helsinki, about 1000 euros for premium all-event (inc gala and practices), 800 for ice level 1. The rest I don't remember, but I'm assuming you're more interested in the better seats, anyway.
IIRC tickets for Worlds in Boston were more expensive. And Finland is more expensive on the whole than Italy, too, so maybe it'll be even cheaper there, who knows.

I'm definitely planning on going to Milano, I haven't been there in about 15 years and I am hoping to make it a trip to a lot of places I used to visit when I was a kid.

Are Worlds tickets ever sold on an event based? I did check for Helsinki sometime ago, and it were all events based (at whatever site I was checking). Wondering if it would be a bit cheaper in that scenario.

I'm sorry, I don't know what that means. Do you mean buying them separately for a single event, like if you only want to go to the ladies fs and the men's sp, you only buy tickets for those events? Then the answer is yes. All-event packages went on sale in March, but single tickets for one event went on sale in the autumn, I think. Actually, there are probably a few of those still for sale on the official website. All-event have been sold out for a while, though.

Not exactly sure what you mean, but here's the original picture listing all ticket categories and prices for Helsinki (excluding premium tickets, which were about 1.000€). Maybe that can tell you what you wanted to know.

It was basically what Winnie answered. Just wanted to know if I could get tickets for either LP or SP for either Men's or Ladies, since I truly don't find myself very interested in the other two disciplines

Anyways, thanks for the link.

Thank you for sharing the information. Other than watching the competitions, people from other places may also go sightseeing in Helsinki, so It is really nice to know about the weather condition outside the arena as well.

If you happen to have 1 extra day to spend in Helsinki, there are some special offer day cruises to Tallinn (Estonia) at the moment. I think they should be booked this week, but you can travel until 30 March. It takes 2 hours or 2,5 hours / one way to get there and I think it's a lovely place. Viking Line has offers starting from 9 euros ( Helsinki-Tallinn before noon and return the same evening). Tallink Silja has many departures a day, too.

A little info for some who might not know or have forgotten: if you are coming to Helsinki before March 26th, remember to turn your clock an hour forward at 03:00 in the night on 26th of March. That is when Finland moves to summertime. Just thought it was good to remind those who might come early and don't check the time difference again after arriving.:)

I already made a note of it, because it is a strange day. I will arrive on Saturday, and Helsinki is one hour ahead of my timezone (western Europe). And then the same night, the clock goes forward another hour! :-)

Good reminder! I will travel to Finland on that Sunday so I can go to the practices on Monday morning... and the clocks change the same night in my country. And I had better remember it, or I'm going to arrive at the airport an hour late! O_o
