2017 Worlds Helsinki Info and Chat

Do you think it's going to be possible to get tickets right before the event starts (assuming it's not sold out)?

People managed to do it in Boston. I met a lady who had men's fp tickets for peanuts. I would think it's almost certain except for fp men and women. If you're coming from far away, though, you might not want to take the risk.

Maybe this helps.
I just googled this, so not guarantee for accuracy and reliability, but it looks about right. (unfortunately they don't have a chart for "arena food", which will probably be on a whole other level :palmf: )

Pamigena, you are impressively organized. If you have a boss, your boss is very lucky!

I'm feeling a little foolish. I got premium tickets in the upper part of 110 :noshake:

We have a saying in Dutch, "wat de gek ervoor over heeft". It means [It's worth] "what the fool is willing to pay for it".

That's on the judges side and bit closer to the center, so very good seats even if a bit high. I have mine in the lowest part of the same section but almost all the way to the side and I worry I won't see the other part of the rink too well.

I'm pretty sure there's a good chance that some tickets will be available. I for example have two all-event tickets for myself and a friend, but I can't be sure if that friend can make it to every event. In that case I will probably try to sell the extra ticket just before the start of the event in question.

what's the expense level of food in helsinki? (compare to US) trying to get a general idea, my friend said it's very expensive.

Well, at least you don't have to tip here in Finland. It isn't expected. And the price of all products in shops is the actual price, no tax added.

Me too. I'm travelling with my daughter who intends to swim with a local youth team while we are there. I'm not certain of their practice times yet, but it may mean she will miss some events. I may be doing the same as TMC, getting to the arena a little early to sell a ticket.

I wouldn't sweat this one. You got the best seats available relatively close to the event. Maybe you could have paid a little less or been a little closer if you'd been ready to commit back in April, but these are good seats to get with only a couple of months to go. Other people are pissed because they bought balcony seats when no others were on offer. I bet the whole arena will be sold out for all the fps come the event.

Usually food in during events in places where they are hold is quite expensive. I am going to go eat somewhere else than Hartwall Arena, if it is possible. We Finns think that Central Europe is cheap but for example in London the price level is about the same. It is not allowed to bring own food to stand, I think.

So I was informed that the FAQs on the official page were updated since I last went there, and noticed the following:
Forbidden items at Hartwall Arena

Security checks will take place at all entrances to the Arena. These items are forbidden in the Arena:

all bottles
all poles, stakes / telescopic rods that reach over 1 meter
laser pointers
pressurized horns
alcohol and illegal substances
weapons
rockets, torches, smokethrowers and fireworks
all forbidden items and substances
pointy and/or big umbrellas
banderolls with racist or offensive texts

Am I missing something? Does this mean that it's allowed to bring food (like plain sandwiches and stuff) and carton packages with drink inside the arena? Cuz that would *really* make my life a lot better when I'm there. :yahoo:

Yea, that's my question as well. The events go on so long and paying the Finnish arena prices for food and drink terrifies me.

Ah. OK. All forbidden items are forbidden. That is really good to know. Are some forbidden items more forbidden than others?

I checked the list in Finnish. There is a translation error. In Finnis on the list stays on equivalent place "laittomat esineet ja aineet", laittomat = illegal. (And sorry for my own english mistakes)

Well, last I checked, food and simple drinks weren't "illegal" anywhere on our fine globe. So... :agree:

LOL, starting in October I have put aside 40 euros every month for arena food and drink and will be enjoying myself...

Jaana - Do you know how the food is at this arena? Is it pretty decent? Most arena food prices are pretty outrageous, are these exceptionally outrageous? For example at U.S. Nats, a bratwurst w/ BarBQ was $9.50 USD. A bottle of Diet Pepsi was $4.50 or $5 USD. Thx in advance for any help you can give.

And Finland is very expensive for us Central Europeans :)
On the WC2017 FAQ it seems to only bottles are not allowed in the arena, but food is permitted. I think I'll give it a try on the first day, I will bring biscuits/chocolate and see if the security stuff lets them it.
