2017 Worlds Helsinki Info and Chat

No, that would be much too logical. It's actually called the "Finlandia Trophy Espoo" app. I am not kidding. Although after installation, it does show as Helsinki2017. I hope they fix that little bug!

I am familiar with audience judging, we could participate at a GPF Barcelona gala, and in equestrian dressage competitions it's very common nowadays.

I wonder what they mean with the bluetooth extras, though?

Ooooh, sounds fun!

I'm gonna be one of 5000 judges!

Yes... and I'm especially interested to know who is in the first one or two practice groups of each day.

I intend to start each day with a proper breakfast, and the earliest breakfast at my hotel is at 6:30am. Even if I rush to the arena right after breakfast, I'll still miss some of the first one or two groups each day...

6:30am breakfast would also require me to get out of bed by about 6:00am.
Which would be like 3:00am for me, given time zone differences, plus the clocks changing this Sunday.
And I am not good at 3:00am... -_-

I'm already trying to "acclimatise" by getting up super-early each day this week... But I'm hoping my favourites will be in practice groups 3 or 4 onwards - not just so I can get there in time, but also so I can have an extra hour or so of sleep! ^_^;

The days are going to be long...

I thought the same thing.

Practice groups are based by countries in alphabetical order, no? So Canadian and Chinese skaters will likely be in the first 1-2 groups.

They are? Because when I look at those practice groups from Boston, those country names are all over the place :scratch2: (I have been wondering though how practice groups are determined... because I can't really see an obvious pattern here and to me it looked like a very random draw)

oh look, my 3.000th post involves me scratching my head  now there's a shocker

Oh, all I really remember is that skaters from the same countries are grouped together. I guess the order is random.

If some of you are in Helsinki on Sun 26th, you could watch synchro at the "old" ice arena ( not Hartwall):
Rockettes synchro team will perform their programs for the Worlds at 13.00 at Helsingin jäähalli, Nordenskiöldinkatu.

At most hotels, if you have to leave early they will give you a bagged breakfast on request ;) I've done that a few times if I've had an early flight. You won't get scrambled eggs or bacon, but you will usually get a decent sized meal!

When does the practice groups schedule usually come up? Should we expect it before the weekend?

Regarding the practice seating... I thought spectators have allocated seats, but the email just sent from lippu.fi seems to say otherwise...??

"Beside the competition events you can also purchase tickets for the official practices at the Hartwall Arena. [....]
Practices have free seating. So, once you are in the arena, you can sit where you want in the spectator area."

Just saw the mail about the not-assigned practice seats. I am livid! My tickets definitely DO have seat numbers! I have sent an email for an explanation.

I'm gonna sit on one of them if that turns out to be true :furious:
seriously, they come out with something like that four days before the event starts?? I mean how unreasonable is it to assume that you have paid for a specific seat - when you get to choose a specific seat when buying your ticket!
geez I'm seriously mad about this right now.

I will kick out anyone sitting in my practice seat. Period. No compromise.

Hello, I would also like to come to meeting at Salve, I'm most likely in Helsinki by Monday (I'm Finnish by the way)

Please let us know how they respond! I am feeling a bit anxious about this as well, even though my ticketed seats are not that good - I just want the reassurance!

What the...?!

And here was me thinking what a great and civilised thing it was, to put seat numbers on practice tickets... no rushing... no seats "reserved" by blankets and then left empty all day except for the 40 minutes when Hanyu is practicing...

Please let it not be true! :-/

That is cool!

But, I must have my hot breakfast... including the bacon, scrambled eggs, hot coffee etc... plates, knives and forks, proper cups and glasses... sitting at a table... etc :-D
