2017 Worlds Men pre-event thread

Yeah, but not all of those skaters are going to be there.

Well, yes, just mentally remove those who won't for a list of 24 best scores this season from those who will be at Worlds. It's just for an idea of what the lowest score could be.

OK, the dreaded and unmentionable subsequent post, but since it has *nothing* to do with my previous post.

I don't know what these numbers are for (truly, I skipped the original post, figured it was BV or quads or some such)
But I'm going to put one out there because I think it would be wonderful if I got it, whatever it is....

69.13

Cause I like those numbers:biggrin:

I was gonna say 72, but that's taken. I'll go 72.5.

I'd go with 68.19.

Thank you for playing.

A little information to help you.

http://www.isuresults.com/results/se...016/SEG001.HTM
This is last year's SP result.
No. 24 was Ivan Pavlov from Ukraine with 65.20

More people are joining in.

Most of you think that this year's crop of men are better than last year's. Two of you think that they'll do worse. Perhaps MOHIR is gonna grab all those delicious 3A's being offered.

Guess/Deduce/Estimate the lowest SP score to qualify for FS at the Worlds.

Reply to this post and I will update.

Bev Smith tweeted that Han Yan has withdrawn with a fractured shoulder. Get well quickly!
Not unexpected, but sad all the same. I was looking forward to seeing him.

PS. doesn't the qualification score prediction game deserve a thread of its own?

Could you please do it for the Men's FP as well?

Sure, but the FS is a strange beast, with everyone constantly doing so many changes to their layouts through the season.

Here it goes, if I didn't make any mistake.

Even though everyone already knew, it's been confirmed by Han Yan himself on Weibo that he'll be hospitalized on Monday and into surgery on Tuesday, so regardless of him still being in the Entries list, he won't be at Worlds.

I knew it was going to happen, with all the news of his injuries. but still. :(

I'm starting to rethink my guess. While I think the top men have greatly increased BV and are doing the harder elements better, I'm not sure that great improvements have been realized further down the ladder.

In essence, I'm guessing that the last man in will increase score by about 7 points over the last man in a year ago. I now think that's too high.

But, what the heck, I've already bought my lottery ticket, and fair is fair. I'm sticking with it.

Ah, but then you check the SP SB scores and you see this:

24 72.59 Julian Zhi Jie YEE MAS

And what do you know, it is about 7 points higher than the SP score cutout at 2016 Worlds. Maybe you're onto something!

Of course, not everyone is gonna have their SB at Worlds... so it's a gamble.

* Who will win?
Shoma
* Who will get on the podium?
Shoma, Hanyu, Nathan
* How many landed with plus GOE quads will we get?
Probably a lot
* Who are you excited to see at Worlds?
Shoma, Boyang, Javi, Deniss, Misha, Mikhail, Moris

Plus your predictions, quandaries, concerns, anxieties, excitements on placements, quads, Olympic spots, etc.

Brezina and Kovtun will finally skate great

3 spots for USA and Russian men

What a sad news. He was finally out of the year-long struggles plagued over him since the Worlds in Boston, but ironically his body couldn't allow him to compete at Worlds. Wish for a full and fast recovery.
