Yes, thank you, Mango! I wish there was a way to pin these posts somehow so they could be easily accessible throughout the season.

Yes, Mangos’s time and effort to gather all these links are much appreciated. Perhaps the mods can somehow move the three posts to the beginning of the thread so that they don’t get lost.

I think those links should be put at the top of the thread as well... and furthermore, as this thread is done every year, it should always start with these.

Just watched Aurora Cotop at White Rose.

Her FS is still working in, but her magic and performance qualities are very much back.

Total score over 148...

More good things clearly to come for her.

I enjoyed her very much - she uses her upper body very beautifully.

Aurora was head and shoulders above everyone else at this competition, but she'll be facing a lot tougher at her two JGP events. 3t+2t won't make it against the Russian, Japanese and Korean skaters, and she also has Yi Christy Leung in SVK. Christy has 3z+3t and scored 161 at the Asian Challenge today.

I know Aurora used to have a lutz, but she didn't go for it in either the SP or FS. She only did the flip, but fell on that in the SP. Does she have an injury?

The promising ladies are not in the junior rank but currently in the pre-novice and novice categories, to be honest. names that come to mind are alexa matveev (12), reese rose (9) and melody zhu (12)

Thanks for this post. It made me want to YouTube some videos of each

Very impressed with Mateev. Huge jumps . In the Wild Rose novice ladies competition FS she getting off double -triple combos ( so much more difficult than triple -double combos ) She can do double toe half loop 3S and double salchow triple toe combos . She attempted 2F-3T in the short. I think she'll have 3-3 combos soon as she lands her jumps with great flow.

Reese Rose is very flexible. Very Sasha-Cohen like at this point.

Melody Zhu 's home club is listed as Champs. Although talented, I hope she can leave that club as I don't think she'll develop properly there.

Her free skate was a disaster, falls, 2<<, no 3+3

We appreciate your concern for Aurora very much, blue_ice, but there's no need to panic and post it in multiple threads. Definitely no need to switch countries as you have suggested before ;). It is an early season domestic competition to get the kinks out and for skaters to get feedback on their programs. And as some posters pointed out in both threads, Aurora has some nice qualities to admire.

the planned combo in the sp was 3t-3t... she had a huge 3t and didn't manage the second part of the combo well and did a 2t...

she's had a 3t-3t combo for a long time now....no need to worry...

actually last year, she was at a disadvantage in events because of the required lutz which is a very new jump for her... this year she should feel better because her flip is solid...

let's not make assumptions based on the summer events.. she has showed us more already

She has the grace and ice princess aura on ice that doesn't look forced but natural which I like about her.

Aurora has a natural grace and lightness on the ice. There's no question she's the best of the ladies other than Osmond and Daleman, but she does need that lutz to move upward in the ranks. With a lutz, I can see her becoming Canada #3.

For now, she doesn't have Gabby's power, so 3t+3t won't be competitive in the JGP against 4s, 3a, and 3z+3t. I hope she'll work hard on 3f+3t for this season at least.

well.. we will see.. she is a beautiful talent... she is not expected on the senior circuit now. BTW she has landed the 3lz before... it's not like she cannot do it, but this year, since it's not mandatory in JGP SP, why not focus on going clean?

and yes... chuckm

grace and lightness.. Aurora is such a special talent! I had such a special skating moment watching her this weekend... let's hope she manages to develop well in the sport...

Few more thoughts on Aurora...

When I said the magic is back, it's because last season she seemed to be struggling through the end of growth and a maturing physique.

Some of her lightness, Grace and confidence was compromised as compared to her junior debut year.

But she seems to have got past that, and is now in a place to master and integrate new elements. She's been out in Edmonton working with Ravi Dalia, Kaetlyn's coach for the summer , and we may be seeing some of the benefits of that.

And she's still quite young. With a July birthday, she's skating as 15 in ISU events this season.

She's got time to consolidate her artistry and up her BV before going senior.

Well, we didn't see any benefits at this competition, very unstable skate. Maybe it would be a benefit if she sticks to her own coaches, instead of running back and forth. We don't want to see another Chartrand

The mooted benefit was greater confidence, presence, etc. compared to last year.

Unrelatedly, we should start getting the lineups for the other Challenger events in the near future. Be interesting to see who turns up where. Lombardia and the US Classic are next up, running simultaneously; Kirsten has been a regular attendee (and winner) of the latter over the years with both Dylan and Michael.
