topic: Since I spend a lot of time on this thread, I thought I should let you all know that I nearly died on Friday night (and no, I'm not exaggerating in the slightest). The medical staff at the hospital saved my life by giving me
three blood transfusions plus an IV drug that slowed down bleeding. A doctor has prescribed me medication that should stabilize my condition and (hopefully) prevent another life-threatening episode. I'm very weak (naturally), but I'm so grateful that I'm still alive, and that I can continue to do "mundane" things like discuss our Canadian skaters with you guys.

Honestly, I'm overwhelmed with joy that my life almost seems normal today, when just a few nights ago, it was a struggle for me to stay conscious with such massive blood loss, and not knowing if I'll survive to see the next morning. I'm resting and recovering now.
Some of you may find this darkly amusing; while I hovered between life and death, after I had pondered about my family, friends, the meaning of life and all that profound stuff, my mind wandered to more trivial issues, and one of them was, "But who will share CBC coverage on GS when I'm gone?!"

I may have been a bit delirious at this point.
