2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I'm surprised Alena K.'s dress appears to be so controversal. I thought it was quite beautiful and fitting for the theme of the program. Also, I'm a big fan of that little jump she does after the axel. And the axel itself. Definitely a good jump for her and I hope we can see her do a tripple soon.

Not a fan of Daniil-style music cuts... it doesn't really fit this piece.

I remember reading an interview from Olga, the dressmaker, and she said that she advised against using white or light blue because she felt that it kind of blended in with the ice and the skater didn’t stand out as much or something along those lines. I’m a little surprised by the dress because of that, as it is white with a little blue. I think this is kind of what happens too, Alena gets washed out by the ice a bit, the dress just doesn’t stand out on its own against it. I personally think it’s a really cool dress though, the wings are unique!
 
Alena was sublime
I'm fascinated by everything - the program, the choreo. :drama: the angel in the dress.
This program and the dress are absolutely dreamy, Every movement matched perfectly to the music. She really owns the ice with great speed and confidence.
The ending of the program is so brilliant. I can totally see the fallen angel story.
Well done Alena and Daniil.

Ok yeah, I can see the argument. It doesn't seem to be a problem in close up, as far as I can see, but could be when you're watching it live from further away.
 
If everything goes as planned in the free skate Tarusina or Kanysheva for the second event will be a question unless the latter scores above 130.

Well, speculating aboit the future is OK while competition chat is kind of forbidden in this particular thread. Moreover, I currently have no access to videos and can only speculate.

Now, I will reveal you the secret of Punchinello - this is a subjective sport :) Different judges - different scores.

I recomend you watch the Golden Skate Interview with Eteri Georgievna. When the reporter asked her how she feel about Zhenya's world records, she simply replied that "In fact, you can not compare the scores from one competition to another, it's different judges, different components". It's reasonable and honest answer.

The main thing is - the place in the current competition. So, don't be so upset about Alena's score :) She is first.
 
I'm remembering that one interview where the interviewer asked "what do you think happened?" and she replied with "I came back to Moscow" :biggrin:

I don't mind the music cuts, maybe the transition to the 2nd cut was a bit rough but still it is a lovely programm, it goes well with Alena's speed and all those jump exits are :love: . I'm not sure about the dress. I wouldn't call it ugly, the color has definitely some vibes from another Aljona. Kostornaia's has more details which are gorgeously made. I think the only bad thing are those golden wings on the shoulders. :drama:

Alena Kostornaia has better GOE’s but the reason she got a 71 was because she had an unclear edge on her 3Lz+3T combination.
