2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Omg I freaking love her new Sp. Love me some dramatic Opera. Zhenya definitely should work with Misha in the future more. :D

There are some rumors that Zagitova can withdraw from RusNat (due to injury). So far Kogan only hinted that not all participants arrived today and therefore some will be missing today's practice (most likely Zagitova). We will see if that true or not..

Please no, Alina, be happy and healthy  :sad4:

The program seems so short...

I realize it’s a short but it seems over to quickly. Which I guess is good since I want to see more.

I had the sound off after her skate - what was TAT saying when she got off the ice?

I only heard that she repeatedly called the program "unbelievable!" both in Russian and then in English, for Orser. Couldn't make out anything else.

I loved the program! Now praying she can fight her nerves in competition.

Her new SP honestly looks much like her old ones under Eteri, maybe with a bit less transitions. Glad they realized the change was too radical and went back to it.

Since we were talking a lot about those things a while ago.

Alexander Kogan (director of rusfed), on increasing min age to participate in rusnats:
"We don't plan doing this. First, all the athletes who cam compete among juniors, met all the criteria to participate in the national championship. Second, many of them, next season, will have the right to compete in seniors. And many of them will compete for the top positions at the international competitions. They need competition practice on senior level. And third. What is the point to sacrifice ones who skate better in favour of those who skate worse?"

Team Eteri usually arrives in the last moment. Probably they will get there just in time for the draw which is this evening.

Last group is on the training ice. I don't see Alina, but I've just tuned in. Is she there?

The combo is no longer in the 2nd half and there is no lutz. I think Evgenia will be fine.

I hope the rumours about Alina are not true.

Yes. They probably realized that it is not the right time to play around and risk it with her former layout. The new layout is so much better and she can score still high with it if she skates clean.

Oh no. I hope Alina is well. :( would be devestated to see her miss the RN.

Just because Medvedeva couldn't sell it, doesn't mean the choreo was crap. With a better interpreter, maybe...

Combo of both crap choreography and Meds inability to sell it.

Crap choreography extends to Meds LP and Wilson's recent programs for other skaters, not just the SP.

If Zagitova is out, what does that mean for Euros spots? I thought the rule was top two senior ladies get Euros and one spot decided by coaches council, which skaters who are injured for Nats can petition for - if Alina is also missing Nationals, does Liza effectively lose the chance to get the 3rd spot for Euros?

Yep, it is likely that Alina would be chosen over Liza (which is reasonable).
