Actually, not a single comment about flutz! Even "You-Know-Who" stopped doing vids about Evgenia. But I've read some really dumb negative comments about her in Russian. And her usual proportion 10likes/1dislike has changed to 5/1. But you are right, who cares about haters.

Yeah, that‘s what I‘ve noticed, too! When I first saw „You-know-who’s“ (like that one) video with the title „Pray for Evgenia Medvedeva“ I thought it was a joke. Until I watched it and figured it really wasn‘t. Pretty shocking, haha. I guess it‘s because now Eteri‘s the big bad instead of Zhenya. I don‘t understand Russian so I don‘t know what Russians write about her but I‘ve heard that they‘re (or a lot/some of them) not too happy with her training abroad and leaving Eteri. Which I don’t understand, personally. But well, as soon as the new season starts and they‘ll continue to get a lot of gold/silver medals by Zhenya, they‘ll hopefully stop questioning her.

TBH most russians who dislike Med either see her as a "traitor" (haters), or a "hypocryte" (russians tend to be pretty straightforward, and i see how many people can be peeved when a person first says "no, not changing coaches" and then suddenly). Those are the most common. There are also the patriotic haters ("ohh little spoiled one, Russia not good enough for you anymore").
Then, there are the rare special haters, for example the conspiracy theory ones ("she will tell Orser all the secrets", "she is together with WADA to get russian FS shut down for doping"). Also there are a few who dislike her agent (i dont know, but there is some backstory i guess).

Overall, it is actually entertaining to watch. Offseason fun, study the haters.

Zhenya's agent is Ari Zakarian. Zhenya Plushenko's long time agent and friend. But he is the agent of Adelina and if I not mistaken Ovechkin's, too. I read somewhere. He is talented in many ways. I don't believe there is a story in the background. Probably the reason is he is succesful, he is really good in his job. That is enough for some Russians.

Actually, Evgenia is always super friendly, super cute, all smiles, always classy, doing the right thing, making the right choice etc.
We all know people in Russia in their ordinary life behave a bit differently (and we also remember her "prosto piz*ets" video ), so some people think she is just acting on camera.

Some off-topic but: I love it when I notice German words used in English texts. Like Schadenfreude. Or Kindergarten. Or Wunderwaffe. Like, how did that happen that these words are suddenly known in English?

On topic again: I don‘t think Evgenia has that many secrets to tell Orser. Obviously, Eteri‘s doing something right but as you said, my guess, too, is that her success primarily results from the time she lets her skaters spend on rehearsing the programs. I remember some skater of her group (I think it was Kostornaya) saying that with her old coach, if she made a mistake with a jump in her program, she‘d do the jump again. With Eteri, she‘d do the whole program again. Eteri skaters’ prime weapon is their consistency. And besides, it‘s not like Evgenia‘s suddenly competing for another country. She‘s still Russian so naturally she wants her country to win. Russians need to remember that. Whining about „Russia not being enough for her“ or „spilling secrets to the bad, bad Canadians“ is childish, really. You know what: No, „Russia wasn‘t enough for her“ anymore isn‘t true, she needed a change and she made the best one for her and FOR Russia not because she doesn‘t love her country but because she feels like she has the best chances of winning FOR it if she trains abroad.

She seems to have a good eye for what the person's thinking or how they are feeling. So she would notice small things that the skater might not realize themselves. Be it that they aren't working as hard as they could, aren't concentrating on something etc.

I think the most important thing about it is Eteri herself and not some training method. That's why I've never been concerned about some "training secrets" being leaked.

Which means... Well, you can train as long as you physically can when its state funded, but not when you pay USD100-150/hr.

And there's nothing wrong about that.

We don't have the right to judge what the athletes do in their private, what they like and what they really think.

Some people just need to understand to follow more the rink than the life of the skaters.
