2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Evgenia: *breathes*

seriously saw this picture and thought “awww, look at Brian proudly showing off and supporting his new student and the club she represents!” (also, Brian and Tracy were on Sambo’s list as coaches next to Evgenia, just sayin’)

idk why I bother, though. The name ‘Brian Orser’ drops like a lead balloon here anyway

Hi everyone!
Sadly I finally come out of read-only mode like this, but this jacket discussion is really the last straw.

What I want to say is that Eteri does not own Sambo-70. She is merely a coach in one of its departments, so the whole club, which is huge, does not revolve around her group, and her skaters do not have exclusive rights for club symbols. So Orser wearing a club jacket has nothing to do with her.
It is extremely annoying when some people first tried to "strip" Zhenya of her citizenship, labeling her as a trator, and now of her club affiliation as well. The club's head clearly stated that Zhenya continues to represent Sambo, Moscow, Russia, just with a different coach, and official papers from the Sports Ministry confirm that, so if sports authorities are okay with her training abroad, there is no problem at all. Many other athlets from Russia actually do the same, and no one cares.

My thoughts about the picture were like "congrats Sambo with a brand new coaching staff :laugh:".

The best first post in the history of first posts.

Welcome, urtica.

I too mostly just read everything, but am a little disturbured by this jacket discussion. Prior to reading the discussion on this forum, I saw Zhenya's instagram post and gave it a like. When I saw it my initial reaction was, wow she looks so happy and proud that her coach has a jacket to represent her, and everything she is a part of. Until I came here, it never would have occured to me that this could be seen as negative. She knows how many jackets Orser owns, and to me her smile says it all, she is so pleased that he now owns a jacket for her too. From everything she/Jason has posted since moving to Canada, she has still been pro-Russia and I think always will be, it is her home. She still feels pride in her country and loves that that is where she is from. To me her happiness should come first, and I think it is cool how she is bringing a little bit of Russia to Canada. I can see nothing wrong in giving a Sambo jacket to Orser, this is the club she represents and she probably misses it very much, she is in such a different training environment now. I think having someone in Canada who supports her and Sambo-70 probably gives her a little touch of home. I know she made the choice to move there, but I don't believe it was an easy one, she wants to give herself the most opportunities. But she did choose to stay with her home club and will always stick with it. Just my opinion :luv17:

Thank you, guys!:)

Took me almost 3 years to start posting, but better late than never, haha

Well I'm glad you did! Welcome to Golden Skate, urtica! Post often (and you got the posting long part mastered!). :)

Welcome! And thank you for writing this :)

Edit. And welcome to Elana too!

Honestly I think after test skates then the ranking will be;
1. Trusova
2. Kostornaya/Shcherbakova (Shcherbakova with a quad/quad combo is above Kostornaya, without quads I would put her just below)
4. Tarusina (I vaguely recall rumours about a quad toe)

I would have put Tarusina there as well. I hope she doesn't screw her first assignments because she has big potential for high scores and also have the feeling that international judges will like her.

How cute Zhenya joined the collection :luv17: of Orser with lovely cardigan! But it's clearly not her size. It was clever that she has learned it from Brian in advance. Let's hope this sign of:bow: loyalty&obedience will not be perceived incorrectly among the numerous gorgeous pupils of the master.
Many in Russia would have dream of having the same. After all, this part of the official uniform is not sold in the free market. In any case, such a gift for Canada Day clearly demonstrates her remarkable :medal" mind.

Maybe .......but it’s still 60% higher than almost the entire field

:laugh2: :agree:

P.S. Actually I don't even understand what "representing your club" means in figure skating. She trains in different club now, what's the point to "represent" her previous club? How does it work? In football, let's say, if person leaves their club, they leave it. They don't represent this club anymore. I don't get it. Can someone explain?
