P.S. Actually I don't even understand what "representing your club" means in figure skating. She trains in different club now, what's the point to "represent" her previous club? How does it work? In football, let's say, if person leaves their club, they leave it. They don't represent this club anymore. I don't get it. Can someone explain?
I don’t get it either. Its very common here in the US that even if you move to somewhere like Colorado you’d represent your club in Michigan at sectionals/regionals and beyond. I’m sure it has to do with Nationals qualifications and competing in the most logical area to advance the furthest but the point is that it is very common here.
I bet in Zhenya's case that in addition to any money that gets allotted to help her train abroad some of it gets directed back to Sambo to cover some travel and other costs associated with being a member. This way I bet when she wins some of the earnings likely goes to the club. It’s probably a win win for everyone involved honestly.
Does she need to represent a local club for nationals and domestic events like Cup of Russia?
