2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

The beauty of combo with precise execution is stunning. From a technical point of view 4T+3T execution is much easier.
Under the current rules it's useless to perform 3A+3Lo - 12.90(x14.19), 4T+3T - 13.70(x 15.07).

Zagitova OG FS 3Lz+3Lo GOE+3 = 13.91(new). 3A+3Lo GOE-3 = 14.19-1.47=12.27(new). Difference of 1.67 points.

From general considerations the development of Russia Lady' FS has already reached the level of self-reproduction. Self-reproduction of the individuals, "clones" by some FS experts. Clone JL, PT, EM, AZ, AT, AK........ ASh? Clone - analogue, duplicate, copy, repetition, replication. The only thing they have in common - more than 30 national, GP, E/WC and Oly J/S records.

Little OT: I think Petr Gummenik is one of those russian skaters that with a stronger coaching team and someone able to convince her mother that yes jumps are scary but he should do it anyway, this could be one of their strongest talents in men's figure skating.

a ha-ha... Alexandra The Brave outskated all the men at JWC 2018! She has mercy only to Erohov, another ET student. AT was 4th in Men' SP & 2nd in Men' FS(2). Kostornaya - 5th and 8th(7). Is it correct to name Tutberidze the best J/S lady/man coach of 2008-2018 years?

Please don't twist my words. Who said anything about idols?

All jokes aside...what the heck is an “adequate number”. Are you able to define it? I’m legitimately curious how many skaters need to catch up before we can treat the ladies the same as the men.

You have to admit that not allowing it in the SP has to have some impact when coaches and skaters weigh the benefits of learning the 3a. At least to some degree. If nothing else changing the rule might encourage more skaters to go for it which would in turn encourage even more to go for it. Do you think it’s hurt men’s skating?

I already brought up an example of the junior men vs senior ladies in 2008. The junior ladies are free to do the 3A in the free skate, but how many attempts did we see at Junior Worlds 2018? The senior ladies were allowed to include the 3A in both the short and free for the last decade, there certainly wasn't a lack of encouragement.

"Prins decided the time was right to ask that the ISU raise the minimum age for seniors in all disciplines from 15 to 17...

I asked him if the success of young Russian women and girls this season was the critical piece...
Prins answered - “We need to think about the image of our sport to the outside world... media and audience would like to see `idols’ who compete for a longer period of time.

“Younger skaters are able to show more difficult elements... we are currently losing Seniors skaters who are afraid they not compete with these younger skaters in Senior Events.” - Philip Hersh

What he is talking about?! "Seniors skaters are afraid they not compete with younger skaters" - the level of argument of the children's morning party festival.
such in fact are the national Championships of USA and Canada. When it is accepted openly then the movement to success will begin.

I agree. If they can do it, no need to hold them back.
 
Although i agree that 3A and quads should be allowed in the SP for junior and senior girls, i don't think allowing it will suddenly mean every russian girl is gonna start jumping 3As left and right. Of course we'll see more of them trying it.
I mean even our little phenom Trusova who can jump 3 kinds of quads said she tried the 3A but struggled with it so they decided to challenged quads instead. The 3A is a different kind of beast.

It was the proposal to increase the minimum age at the ISU Congress that said the ISU was trying to create idols for people to follow. I was poking fun at that when I was addressing your insight that the ISU wants the purpose of the SP to aim to “level the field”. It’s kind of the same line of thinking IMO. YMMV :)

I really can’t think of one reason to restrict the technical abilitities and no offense but your reasoning sounds a bit like “that’s just the way it is” instead of any compelling reasoning. If it’s to level the field then I’m just not going to think it’s a good idea. No need to respond to me if your not interested in a discussion though. You seem to have your mind made up that this rule makes for a better sport. I’m just not there at this point.

On the ban to mix all the jumps in the bonus zone leading FS girls will answer by Quads in the first part and three expensive combos in the bonus part.
Will we hear the familiar tunes about the programs "backloaded" with Quads and combos? Whether we see another value correction in favor of the simple jumps ?

In middle distance running, the running tactics consist of 500 m of average running speed and maximum acceleration on the last 300 m. Can we call such a presentation of running as backloaded?
If tomorrow the athlete running back forward becomes the world champion whether he woud be deprived of an award?
Someone will exclaim - Are you kidding me!

One day, an athlete decided to jump high with his back forwards...

Who is saing Trusova is a phenom? For children now training with her, Zagitova, Kostornaya, Sherbakova... they are normal. They even bet "compote" who jumps more quads.
 
Ah this is the same Viktoria Naumova that did the 4Lo in harness a while back
I've always wanted to see a 2A-3Lo so this is great, and she did it quite well :)

i don't get what the point of your comment is! I call Trusova a phenom cause she jumped 2 quads at 13 in the same program, consider her a phenom or not, that's your opinion. Where does the comparison with Bonaly come from? I was just trying to make the point that not everybody can jump 3As cause they're difficult and can be even trickier than quads; even grown male skaters struggle with them (nathan chen, can jump 6 quads in a program, has issues with the 3A). I have no idea what your comment is trying to say :scratch2:
