2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Trying to learn quads and actually performing them at competition is a big difference. There is still only one quad-girl :)

nah dunno, i think there are 2, Miki Ando and Sasha Trusova.
We have to give credit to what we have to give credit.

BTW, since we're talking about quads i remember reading that Zhenya tried 4S at some point. Do you think she's going to keep trying? do you see her being able to land one? I really want to see senior females landing quads too someday even though it's most likely harder

I believe we had a video of Liza B's 4T<(fall) attempt 3 months ago.
This. She seriously needs to gain some height if she wants to do quads. She barely has enough height to even consistently rotate triples.

I'll say Veronika quads before Berestovskaya.

I don't see her landing one, no way.

Still, the more girls learn quads, the more quads we'll see in competition, and the more likely we'll see quads in senior ladies' competitions.

As long as the Olympic gold remains the only thing that keeps her motivated, I'm afraid the only two options for her are to master quads or to give up on competitive skating.

It appears Anastasia Tarakanova has moved to Plushenko's group. She was just featured in the latest Angels of Plushenko Instagram post.

Well, it's a good thing if this is all that was going on with her and it wasn't anything related to health.

Unfortunately though, when it comes to her career I'm much less confident about her than I was half a year ago.

Sidenote: that -3Lo was super under, hm.

more like 3lo<<

 it's good to see that she is in shape. And all these health speculations is just .... speculations
but....
Plushenko's school? :scratch2: really? :scratch2:

Overall, I do not have a lot of expectation on this - its not like team Orser managed to get Tursinbayeva to do a 4S, for example, and we don't know how successful were her earlier tries.
If you look at interviews, quite a few top ladies "have tried" 3As and quads.

Whaaa?? Plushenko's not going to get her ahead of Eteri's girls, and she's becoming something of a coach-hopper. But if it works...and she's happy...

Anastasia Tarakanova at Plushenko's group - https://www.instagram.com/p/BlGbelAgCUc/ - 2A+3T+3Lo = 12.40 8 revolutions. 3A+3T = 6.5 revs 12.20...

LizBet tells interesting things about her coaching last 5 years. Don't want to bother you retelling the young Etery scholars' impressions - the blood will flow out of the eyes...

It'll be interesting to see, right? When she was with Panova last season, she was very inconsistent and rarely had clean performances. The season before, she was even more inconsistent. With Eteri, she then became extremely consistent almost immediately after moving to train under her. I hope she knows what she's doing.

It's pretty generous to give that 3Lo 3 revolutions. I think it's well over half a revolution short. I assume this is why she's not been doing -3Lo combos.

I wonder if she's disappointed for not making the JW team. I hope she realizes that consistency building is key and she was on the right track last year...

I've heard one (I'm sorry I forgot who) non-russian lady speaking about it, she said that nearly every lady tries to handle quads at trainings :)

Well, I'm not sure if Eteri would want to kick her out after she lost several high profile ladies. Does that make sense?

you're right! i just wanted to get other people's opinion on it
i'm still hoping to see a senior girl landing a quad someday! it would be a great achievement in a sport where older girls usually lose their jumps. (i think Kihira is planning to add a 4T to her layout next season but this is not the thread for it)

I wonder what made Tarakanova leave Eteri as she was obviously getting good results with Eteri's coaching team. I also loved the music and choreos she got there; even tho some people did not like the choices, it worked and she was different from the other girls. Idk what she can achieve under Plushenko. What are his coaching achievements? :scratch2:

There are other possible scenarios between "kicked out" and just leaving for Plushenko by choice...like, maybe whatever her health condition is/was did not allow her to train the way Eteri would expect her to train. We could also say it makes no sense for her to leave Eteri if she wants to be successful, but nobody knows the full story.

I just hope that it was a well considered decision and not just Tarakanova having power fantasies about her being held back after finally having a somewhat consistent season for the first time since she added triple jumps.
