2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Anna was assigned to JGP France in 2016 but was heavily injured in car accident right before the short program. She has very good last season, qualified to senior Russian nationals and finished 12th with 195.59. Seems like all her programs last season were skated clean. In interview Anna said they worked on 4T. However that car accident left its mark she has some problems with knees and metal thing inside her head.

she is a real fighter, I wish her successful season in particular and long and successful career in general

P.S. according to her askFM the list of troubles is:
1. titanium plate in the head (it means the skull was damaged)
2. problems with both knees,
3. problems with one of the eyes,
4. problems with one of the muscles,
5. problems with the nose.
her coach Sergey Davydov also has health problems after the accident

Maybe I'm wrong..but Adelina got injured again.. She travelled to the training camp, Bulgaria, but some days ago she had depressive message, video on her Instagram. And she is in Moscow again...

Adelina should really, really officially retire. It‘s not like she is a bad skater, she wasn‘t bad in Sotchi but she can‘t keep up with the young girls now (I mean... who can?) and she‘s trying so hard, she‘s hurting herself in the process. Injury after injury, I‘m so sorry for her because it must feel terrible but really, she still has the prestige of being an Olympic Champion, she skates in Plushenko‘s shows and I‘m sure she would get many more opportunities in other countries. It‘s not like she can‘t skate anymore but maybe not competitively. But that‘s okay, she can still enjoy skating in shows and she already has THE medal, OGM. Again, I‘m not saying this to hate on her or something but rather because I‘m worried about her health. As much as I adored Yulia and as much as it broke my heart when she retired, it was the best decision for her. She is happy now and she wasn‘t when she tried everything to become competitive again even when her health didn‘t allow it. So retiring was objectively the best decision she could have made and I start to feel like it would be the same for Adelina, too. They‘re both Olympic Champions already. No reason to push the body to the limits anymore if they can enjoy skating in a less brutal environment. (E.g coaching or shows)

If she got injured she probably will decide it. She has no chance anymore unfortunately.

wouldn't mind it either :)

I would. Not because I want something bad to happen to Tarusina (she‘s already had enough of that, the poor girl) but because I desperately want Anna to win! And she‘s by far the better of the two so Tarusina winning over her would mean a meltdown from Anna which I don‘t want to happen at all! Maybe they can get gold and silver? :)

I feel the same way. I really want Tarusina to do well and will cheer for her in general, but not against Shcherbakova... It's too bad because Shcherbakova's the only skater who I will not wish Tarusina to defeat.

Also, yes a pretty big part of people seem really obsessed with Anna S., but tbh it feels like one of these cases were that has also caused some... opposition. So I wouldn't be surprised if some people also just wouldn't want Anna S. to win ^^"
For such a miniscule level of fandom? That's remarkably petty.

I'm probably the only one here because everyone is obsessed with Shcherbakova, but I'm rooting for Tarusina. I would love for her to win this JGP, I think she is such a beautiful skater:love:

You're far from the only one. Anna T. has her lovely qualities too, and I think quite a few people want her to do well let alone to make up for the horrible stuff she went through. Not that Anna S had it easy last season, but I guess everything looks a little less bad next to an accident like Tarusinas.

Excuse me, did somebody wanted Anna to lose just because she would have less of a meltdown than Shcherbakova?

Please keep these words in the Shcherbakova fan thread. It is extremely rude and inconsiderate to post such statements in this thread.

Maybe you should quote this ”somebody“ so we see who you‘re referring to? As a matter of fact, though, I suppose you mean me because I wrote something about meltdown in relation to Anna T. and Anna S.

Frankly, I don‘t get your post. I said I want Anna S. to win not because I want anything bad happen to Anna T. (this name thing is confusing me!) but because I‘m a big fan of Shcherbakova and want her to do well. What I said about meltdown was, that Anna S. is objectively the better skater, especially if she goes for a quad. So, in order for Anna T. to win, Shcherbakova would need to mess up big time. Just remember how Trusova won over Kostornaya even though she fell at her quad. And I don’t want this to happen. That‘s what I meant and I think if you read my post you can see it very clearly. (If you really mean me there, since you didn‘t quote) I don‘t get where this is rude since I clearly said I will be cheering for Tarusina to get the silver but hey, if you feel it offended anyone, I‘ll apologise. ;)

I think they said that for Shcherbakova to lose, she'd need to have a meltdown, right? Which is accurate. Tarusina can't compete in base value nor in any of the other categories if they both skate clean, really. So hence, I believe the poster was hoping that no one would have a meltdown.

I attempted to decipher your post and just don't understand what you're saying. Especially the part about fan fest. This is the State of the Russian Ladies Skating, not Tarusina's fanfest.

It happens all the time with many skaters, last season for example the same was true for Marin Honda. Whenever there is a lot of hype around someone, another group of people will be annoyed. It's surely nothing great, but definitely not uncommon.

i will be happy with any russian 1-2 placements tbh
don't understand why there is the need to belittle any of these skaters

You can differentiate who wants Shcherbakova to win and who wants Tarusina to win, just by looking at which girl they refer to as “Anna” and which girl they refer to by their last name.

All this Anna T. and Anna S. business has made me realise that both Kostornaya and Kanysheva will be “Alena K”. I’m preparing for mass confusion once the season starts.

There will be 3 Anastasiias too

And two of them are both Anastasiia G.
