2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

The rest makes sense but how do you have the 2A as only +1? It has good height, is as effortless as can be, has a difficult entry etc. and should qualify for good take off and landing considering it was fully around and the landing was very smooth.

Let's see if she can hit 100 TES this season~

Maybe because it looks like an exit transition from 4T

Height is around 30cm so I wouldn't say it is huge. Entry is rather effortless with a besti squat, but entry speed and distance covered is not ideal (which is understandable given that there is no crossovers done in transition). I gave it +1 because I did not like the flow of the exit. I would not disagree with anyone scoring her a +2 here, as there is nothing wrong with less knee-bend on landing. However, with the size of this particular jump, +3 is definitely pushing it.

Again, don't argue with me on that. It's all my personal opinion. Feel free to score her skate as you wish.

I had it at +3 with effortless, entry, good take off and landing with nothing negative. Air time's 15/30 frames which is good to very good for a 2A. It also is rotated to the limit, anything more and it's overrotated. It can't be only 30cm because Anna's are 30cm and her air time is barely 13/30 at best. Rika's 3A is 17/30 and the highest 2A air time I've seen by a junior was Trusova's 16/30 which is the only one above 15/30. That's for low accuracy frame count air time only.

Are you kidding me? Go check out Trusova's JWC free skate. You will find a 2A with 15/25 frames of air time. Same goes for Kostornaya.
You might also want to check out Rika's free skate in Junior Japanese Nationals. The air time for her 3As there were 19/30 frames and 18/30 frames respectively.

15/30 is really not particularly good airtime for a 2A, although I’m sure I’ve seen Trusova herself do better. But I’ve counted some 2A from Satoko that came close to that particular airtime.

I did think Trusova’s 2A here was good enough for at least a +2. A +3 is iffy for me cuz I waffle a bit about which bullets she really hits, but I wouldn’t raise my eyebrows at someone else giving it.

I would have given another +1. The entry speed is not good, yes, but I like the potential here when the 4T will be clean. She lost the speed that she needed on the 4T landing, went directly to 2A, to catch up with the musical accent that she was planned to hit.

I think with time and clean the program will be amazing. The spins need some work as well.

I think +1/+2 is a fair evaluation for the 2A we saw. Not a lot of speed and looked more lika a transition. I do however think that when she hits the 4T better she will have more speed left for the 2A and that it will be better

StSq???? (video ended halfway through the step sequence, but from what I see I would give her around 4.5 points for that)
here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQov3RVyVAU

For me it would be 94.40 + score for StSq, which would be somewhere near 100. For a more lenient panel she might break 100 TES for this skate. Total BV would be 81.58 if she hits level 4 on everything. Changing the 2A to 3A would bring her 4.7 points extra on the BV.

inb4 ISU will urgently convene extraordinary Sevilla congress this season to raise senior age ASAP :drama:

It occurs to me that if Scherbakova won't land 4Lz in her first competition this season - it's highly likely that Trusova will become first woman to land 4Lz and quad combination in competition too

Trusova lands 3 quads and we're here fighting about music cuts and +1 vs. +2 and airtimes of JWC?! Go celebrate! Our overlord is back!

I think that Trusova's spins are quite good. Probably somewhat underrated. She doesn't have amazing rotation speed on them which probably is why they're not seen as very good but I believe she should still have the highest base value set of spins and does them all with solid positive GOEs. The more I've seen of that program, the more I actually like it. And I think that her skating skills have also improved.

I've been trying to update the OP to serve as kind of a season-guide so we'll see how that experiment goes
I wish that they'd switch the assignments for Trusova and Shcherbakova. Trusova could win today, tomorrow, any day of the week.

Is Nastia T there cause I can’t see her on the OP—I might just be being really blind tho.

Just wanted to come and say I really like Trusova’s new FP! I love the style and I think she’ll be able to skate it really well. The only thing that doesn’t make sense to me is some of the music cuts, but oh well.

Just watched Trusova's program. I like that she's going for something powerful and upbeat but I feel like the music is way too choppy. I'm not expecting much artistry from her (and that's good b/c there isn't really any there) but I'm certain the program will serve her well. I would like to see her work on her spins. The positions aren't bad but her speed is not good. She'll lose points on GOE with the spins...not like it matters when you land 3 quads and two 3-3s though...

The jumps are absolutely incredible. I remember looking at Evgenia a couple of years ago and thinking, "Who in the world can beat her?" She was so consistent...then comes Alina Zagitova with her backloaded content and amazing jumps. Last season I thought the same thing: "Who can beat Alina?" Now here's a girl reeling off multiple quads and 3-3s in one program. If she can make it through the next season healthy and with her jumps in tact for the 2019-2020 season, Trusova is going to turn the women's field on its head. There is no way to make up the TES advantage she will have over the field.

These next four years are going to be pretty interesting...

Satoko's 2A is actually a good one. The only jump from her that I think it is decent. But yeah, it is not a huge 2A by any mean. I personally think Sasha's Axel is not very spetacular. Alyona has a better Axel.
