2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Exactly my point. I honestly don't understand why it should be compared to the best program by arguably the best male figure skater in history... It's not fair to her if anything.

Welll, we are certainly looking at the best female figure skater in history in the making! I don't think there was a comparison made; simply that the program's aggressive, militant style reminds one of Hanyu's program.

Aah, after seeing the ending of the program I think it's even better. Really looking forward to seeing Trusova's FS over the course of the following season. I think it'll be very memorable.

She is now ;)

I'm not sure I'd say Nastya is back to being inconsistent, more that she just doesn't have the stamina for her FS right now. Her SP was apparently very good and, given the fact that the main comments about her I've seen about her FS are that the first half was good/clean but she was visibly tired going into the second half, I personally she think just needs a bit more time to get back to 100%. Which would be reasonable given she was in hospital for more than a month according to Uscheva.

(Nastya also seems to be attempting the 4th highest BV after Trusova, Shcherbakova, and Sisnytsina which is pretty amazing given she was apparently struggling with jumping even a 1A back in May)

Hmm, yeah. To me, being inconsistent is not being able to reliably get the job done and I'm not sure she's anywhere else right now, not that I'd expect her to be. Similar to Shcherbakova, really. Quite talented and with good programs and jumps, but just not someone I could feel calm watching and know that they'll deliver.

How are you? Hope you're doing well. :D

Hi Sam, I am waiting for the season to start, desperately looking for test skates tickets which should have been long on sale but they are not, and having fun with multiple supporters whom Evgeniya suddenly managed to recruit and who defend her even from me :)

It's not a question of femininity versus masculinity, it's just that her program looks like a jumping exercise - one that she's very good at, mind you.

Comparing this program with Seimei though...

I think so could speak women ice skating fans in beginning of 20 century about women ice skating programs in 90-ty years)
You are did not look this program and only any test skating and already make such scornful face. People..)

I get your point. It's just that to me there is a difference between being inconsistent/headcasey despite being in good form (i.e. Chistyakova who bombed the short but were clearly in good shape given her clean - and quite complex - FS), and having issues due to illness/injury. For example if Nastya had fallen on her 3Lo and her 2A (picking two random jumps here) but then skated the rest of her program clean I might have thought it was just headcasing/inconsistency. The fact that her jumps just fell apart in the second half, when she was visibly tired, makes me think it's a more of a physical issue right now.

Probably I'm just interpreting the term inconsistent differently, but I guess I would probably lean towards phrasing the sentence about her in the OP as: Tarakanova -- good programs, but lacking stamina and consistency (two falls and an UR).

Because I agree that she is lacking consistency, but at the same time I don't think there is enough evidence to say she is actively inconsistent (headcasey) if that makes sense?

Link to Zhenya’s vk—from what I can understand the tickets are going on sale tomorrow.

It's a junior program by a junior girl.

Do you have one from when Hanyu was 14?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFE8rrLCJtQ Probably off topic but This was Yuzuru's FS at 14. He did get his growth spurt pretty early though around this time and became super tall and almost 80% leg. He practiced so hard he injured himself too lol. That said this was a lovely program but imo I doubt Trusova would be interested in skating such music. Her program now suits her better, not a fan of the music cuts but it's early in the season so I can get better.

Weird to compare both even if they're the same age. Boys develop+peak slower than girls and even if Hanyu had better qualities at that age while Trusova had more jumps, it was a very different era in skating and both were raised in very different training environments. Excited for JGP now, reminds me of how the men were going for 4-5 quads and two triple axels just a couple of seasons ago. Won't hold my breath for clean consistent skates through the season but this is a huge development for junior ladies skating.

Agreed. Although I don't see many similarities between two of programs, saying it reminds Hanyu's Seimei doesn't imply that Trusova is as good as Hanyu or her program is as legendary as his. Can't get why some could interpret it as a comparison.

Hmm, fair, I changed the OP. Is it better now?
you're right, I think Chistyakova is the embodiment of inconsistent, but I'm still nervous watching Tarakanova. I just want her to do well

Alena's free skate... i'm not sure! the voiceovers... just why? also the music cuts are weird, this is not what i wanted for her! i'm kinda pissed but i'm gonna try and stay positive and wait to see the final form in competition :noshake:

Shcherbakova FS

:hopelessness: that was the worst fall I've seen since Trusova's Russia Cup Final 4T, I believe.

But the good thing is, she knows how to fall properly. Imagine if Pogorilaya... Well let's not imagine that.

I think so!

(btw would you believe me if I told you Chistyakova actually has one of the highest value layouts in her FS amongst the non ultra-si juniors???)
