2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

:drama:

Next ? Tarakanova and the winner of the first JGP ?
But should Tarakanova be there over Sinitsyna? Sinitsyna defeated her at Russia Cup finals and actually participated at elder age nationals, where she did very well. She also had a clean performance at these test skates while Tarakanova had a very poor performance. I don't think that choosing Tarakanova would be fair if it's between the two of them. Yes, I know that Tarakanova placed 7th while Sinitsyna was 9th at jr nationals. Still, though... The track record lately is in Sinitsyna's favor, one would have to say.

If I'm being honest, I don't even think it should be between her and Sinitsyna because Sinitsyna should be there over Kanysheva. But Kanysheva seems to be "the chosen one" for the age group so I guess we'll roll with that.

Here we have Sinitsyna's FS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcLMmbVojzU (I got Elena vibes :luv17: )

I cannot decide who I prefer between Super-Tara and Sinitsyna, but for me she is better than Kanysheva at this point. She seems more mature on the ice and she has a technically stronger program (not to forget her beautiful 3Lz-3Lo!). She really has the potential to be in the top 3 or at least top 5 of these Russian warriors. I would be really pissed off if the federation chose Kanysheva over Sinitsyna.

What about the flawless performance at JGPF? Should that not count for anything? I think we all know Tarakanova was Ill and is trying to get her stamina back right now. I also think she’s earned any chances she’s given after her efforts last season especially that JGPF performance in one of the toughest fields any figure skater faced all season,

Second this and in relation to her illness I repeat what people were saying earlier—she’s been in hospital for two months (I think it was March till start of May), didn’t have a single axel in the middle of May, Kostornaia in June said she couldn’t do all her triples and she’s been at Plushy’s for just under a month and had her programs for a max of three weeks. She’s allowed to mess up in her long indeed I’d be.very surprised if she didn’t and if she gets the fourth gp that gives her about six weeks to polish which is longer than she’s had to work on her programs.

Personally I’d first pull Gubanova and send her to challenger series where she’s more likely to get a high season beat to give us a team of: Trusova, Shcherbakova, Kostornaia, Sisnitsyna (these four imo should be the most definite), Tarakanova, Kanysheva and Tarusina/Vasilieva.

It’s interesting though because in my opinion these test skates make it seem like the Eteri girls aren’t so unreachable anymore other than Trusova. Kostornaia has the second lowest base value of jumps so will need fed support to keep on getting high pcs and Shcherbakova still is inconsistent (even a landed quad lutz won’t save her if she has a second half like that.

Probably both will have at least one jgp assignment and depending on how they skate there they will get or not a second one.

Really not into the music cuts this season from Daniil. I think Alina and Alena took the hardest hits. Alena's choreo is fine, I don't think it's the best vehicle to showcase her though. Alina's POTO choreo, maybe it's a matter of opinion, looks very messy. Sasha's programs fit her very well, even with the many pieces of music. Certainly helps when you can jump 3 quads. And I think Anna has the best programs out of Eteri's girls.

ohhhh.. Tarakanova's programs.. or lack of them.. it's so sad.
I was so happy about her music choice for FS. It could be amazing program. but... I can't see any program at all. same goes for her SP.
:sad21:

Feel free to have your day ruined by this, but, I'm sorry to say it, I really consider it stupid being so angry because of a small fraction of the whole program, even when "this is not what i wanted for her". Not your toy, sorry again, but most complaints I've read for the last days since Alina's SP videos were uploaded really looks that way, child who did not found desired toy under the tree, "I wanted something different and I won't stop crying till I get it".

It matters to others too, please, try for some moment not to think about favorite skaters as something you have copyright to. They are independent persons with their styles, demands, development and of course abilities and it is only their team responsibility to try to lead it right way, no matter what you think from some videos, that are only tiny fraction of their lives. From it it can appear that something is or isn't good for them, but you don't see rhe rest, which is much bigger. Have always this in mind before you make a decision what you want for somebody.

wow you really have a lot to say about me simply not liking the music cuts of her new program. It really isn't that big of a deal. Doesn't mean i'm not gonna support her this season. And where does this "skater being your toy" thing come from? You're going too far and putting things in my mouth i never even thought of. I just expected a different kind of program from her after what she's delivered last season. Did I say it ruined my day? There's no reason to feel personally attacked by me not liking a music cut. It's not like it affects your personally. :scratch2:

look really good so far! and i imagine she started working on her programs a bit later than eteri girls right? since she left the team and probably had to adjust to a new team and environment. I hope the jumps will be good in competition. Her style is different, i love it.

She only started working on them on July 12th (according to Plushenko's interview when he confirmed the switch), so she's had them for less than a month. I think I like them/they have a lot of potential but I would say it's very clear that she isn't used to them yet. Her energy levels fluctuate throughout and the choreo is lacking in sections (I hope it will be added to as she increases her stamina and polishes the programs).

The big relief for me is her jumps though. I was very worried about them given how much her body has changed during this off season (imo she's really stretched out), but they do look relatively solid to me. Yes, she struggled with the backloaded Lutz and Flips but again that looks like a stamina issue more than a jump issue.

That was in no way meant as personal attack by me and I also don't feel offended by anything you said, if that is how you understood my comments. Also, I didn't want put anything into your mouth, I exactly quoted your line and describbed how it souds like ("I want" is really strong expression).

Briefly, my points are those:
1. most of the dissatisfaction about Alyona's or Alina's programs come - in my opinion - from unfulfilled personal expectations, because people came to some conclusions that don't necesarilly match the reality. That is that line: I wanted something different. People have the right to want or to hope for something, but they must accept that their wish has its limits.
2. Those inconvenient people are mostly overreacting, like nearly calling for burning the witch/wizard, calling for "saving" skaters etc. Its just BS, no softer word can be used for it. What we see is not pure final layout, it's work in progress. Also it's not completely fair to measure it with last season programs in their final, complete pure form, if anything, compare it with the look of last season's programs. For example, and as I've said many times, there were many complaints on last year's Alina's Black Swan and we know how it looked at the end.
3. So, I call for reserved reactions tíll we see final results, not those "war path" comments, internet is full with :)

Things are looking good for programs she has been working on for barely a month. I really want her to do well this season. :agree:

I was watching Sasha's interview and seeing her being super excited about going to Disneyland right after landing 3 quads is such a trip :laugh2: she really is just a kid and already achieving all these things.

Did nobody record Alena's SP? I'm dying of curiosity.

I do not get why out of everybody complaining about the music cuts, you had to quote me then :scratch2:. And by the way i was one of the people who stood up for Alina when most of the thread was dragging Alina's POTO program so maybe you shouldn't take your frustration of those people on me. And i'm not one of those "eteri-is-evil-let's-burn-her-and-save-those-kids-from-her" people at all if you have seen just a few of my comments on this thread before. I didn't even give my opinion of the actual program itself because the fancam wasn't clear and i didn't really see it well enough, it is simply the music cuts being quite messy + voiceovers being unnecessary i was complaining about :p

Who wins between Alina and Sasha?

Tough one. Judging by last years results I would say Alina. Due to PCS and short program margin.

This year it's open, I would say Alina with a small margin, maybe plus Olympic status? I expect Alexandra's PCS to increase plus the strongest TES.

Something like (both clean of course).

Alina : SP 82 + 160 LP = 242
Alexandra : SP 75 + 167 LP = 242

It will be an amazing last group at RusNats, specially if everyone is clean or near clean.
