2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I have always found Elena Radionova passion and obvious love of skating to be endearing. I wish her well and I really, really like her music choice.

I don't profess to be in anyway an expert on these things but people used to say that Elena's jumps relied too much on her arms and were likely to fall apart as she got older. It is sad that this seems to be correct. I wish her all the best with her skating and look forward to seeing her compete again.

It was rather vague wording in local news about of her not very good performance coupled with some inside video of her training where she just jumped doubles - which had lead to some wild speculations on anonymous boards that can be somewhat exagerrated. I hope it's just rumors but.. there is no smoke without fire, as they say.

I meant wrong surname. I didn't know she decided to keep her old name for comps - thanks for info. I expect her subpar performance this season too, tbh. Marriage and personal life coupled with recovery from injuries - all that requires time which her rivals spend on training.

I really hope it‘s just a rumour! 🙏🏻

I don‘t know, I like Anna that‘s why I might be biased. Personal life and marriage and recovery from injury... it‘s a bit much as you said. But maybe in the long term a happy personal life could help her balancing the pressure of competitions better... I don‘t know, it‘s just what I hope. Anna was always a joy to watch... when she was on. Otherwise she was exciting as well, even though that‘s not quite the right word: Nerve-racking would describe it better. If anything, I hope anybody teaches her how to fall if she intends to continue compete. These scary Pogo-falls are like poison to an injured back!

I know this is kinda pointless, but I've always been curious and seeing the girls in this video reminded me. Why is Nastya wearing her SP dress instead of the FS? Wouldn't the awards be not that long after the free and therefore why would she change dresses? Did the girls plan this so they would all be in bluish dresses and match for the pictures and everything?

I thought I saw somewhere last season that it was so that they could all be in blue dresses (Nastya's free dress was that gorgeous blue-purple)

Also, I forgot to mention that Radionova participated in many extra activities during summer not related to skating. Various interviews, cooking shows, soccer shows during World Cup etc. Coupled with her rather healthy looking body type and complete lack of training info - I can't say these rumors aren't justified at all. If I'll manage to find links to the sources - I will post it here. Unfortunately I didn't save the link at the time since Radionova is not the skater I'm interested in.

Yeah well, Lena‘s charming and beautiful and she just has that ability to perform. On the ice, on stage, it doesn’t matter. I see how she could do very well at various shows, she just is that extroverted kind of person. But still, she was always so hungry for competing, even when she was struggling. I somehow hope she didn‘t lose this fire in her completely. But I guess we‘ll see at test skates. So many things to look forward to at these test skates. I do hope, we‘ll get some videos! I‘m so excited yet nervous at the same time!

And what is all this noise about Radionova "struggling with doubles"?

Elucidus, please stop spreading rumors. What anonymous sites with "wild assumptions" were you talking about in your other post? I hope to god it's not 2chan.

HERE is the article about Vladimir's new ice rink:

The paragraph righ above Lena's spiral picture:
A known figure skater, Elena Radionova, performed as a guest. Although her skate wasn't perfect (the word "sinless" was used in the article), an appearance of any well-known skater is a treat for Vladimir's public.

And here is the only short video of this including her practice at 0:55

There's like three seconds of her. How in the world can you infer that this is struggling with doubles??? She could've stepped out of a triple in her actual skate. We never saw it so nobody can accurately tell or prognose anything. Was it someones wild assumptions? Well, lets keep wild assumptions to wild minds. People write the craziest things, including here... as it looks...

Your hint toward her possible troubles due to a cooking show (and not "shows" as you wrote, she only appeared in one), football commentary (Med and Zag attended public events as well so I don't see your point), lack of training info (nobody is obligated to give out any info!) looks a lot like those presumptions. I'd say they are of ill intent, sorry. You say you're not interested in her yet you gave out so much about her off-season. Doesn't that make sense!

Also, Elucidus, PLEASE provide prooflinks if you can in the future. I know you didn't save this one. These kind of posts get folks like Fluture freaked out over nothing (sorry Fluture!).

Wow, I never noticed that! Now I wonder about that, too.

And another thing I noticed: In Alena‘s interview the woman at the beginning says: I‘m talking to Alena Kostornaya who‘s 1st after the FP... I think she meant short? Because, Alena didn‘t win JGPF and if she was 1st after the FP, she would be the winner and she could just call her Winner of JGPF? Or does she mean ”who was first in the FP“? Because that would make more sense, as in she was first in the FP but overall second. Still, it‘s a bit misleading either way.

She probably just wanted to say that Alyona's FP got more points than Sasha's.

As for the dress, I read that organizers asked Anastasia to change her costume which made them all three wearing blue.

Competition chat: Update

This is a blanket post for all national threads as JGP Linz kicks off.

Just a reminder:pray:

Please keep all competition chat in the Competition forums. This includes scores, starting orders, elements, etc. Last week, we tried to encourage folks to post using their best judgement, however, some posters inevitably used various other threads as a replacement for the competition threads, and that is what we want to avoid.

Once the event is over, feel free to discuss in other Fan Fest, national threads, etc.

Should we find that folks are still discussing competition info in these threads, said threads will be closed until after the competition.

Thanks for you understanding and for supporting Golden Skate!

I didn't think anyone could dance better than Anna, but Alina owns this one! Impressive. Sasha says she's not a good dancer, but she certainly has good inspiration in her camp.

Alina > Anna >>> Sasha here, I think? Sasha somewhat lacks musicality for now, imo. The closeup of Alina was beautiful, though! I think her plasticity and the overall presence have visibly improved.

In all video of "Anna's dance domination" she never faced with Alina (but there was 1 where Anna run away in the beginning).
Alina has perfect physical condition.
Sasha improved much.

It's so cool that some skaters follow GS!

About the dance video:
I tried to watch Sasha, Alina and Anna separately but everytime my eyes just move automatically to Alina in the middle, her movements and lines are the most aesthetically pleasing for me.

(The only thing that I noticed she needs to work on, is the Russian split jump, Sasha was the best. I think she has the genes to jump to the sky...)
