2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Masha reminds me a lot of Carolina Kostner! It's kind of a shame that she might not get the same longevity opportunity being Russia as Caro did being in Italy but I hope she continues to skate like this and show us her personality in the future.

ok, i missed a lot so...

1. Sasha is gutsy! First quad in combination!!! Though the door is now open for Shcherbakova to be the first to land 4Lz in competition. I dont care about program, I dont care about dress, but quaaaaaads!!! aaaa!!

ok sorry back to business

2. Zhenya's new team is obviously counting on their reputation to get judges not to ! her Lz. Imho, a somewhat risky move, lets see how it will get called over the season. I am overall not entirely convinced about the program, it looks kinda empty and she is a bit too stiff for this sort of stuff. Since the program is fairly new, and its a new style for her, I think we need to see it with a bit more mileage.

3. Zagi looks good, which means we still got to see some epic competition this season among seniors.

PS: shame on you Osmond, it wuld be so much better with you in the mix, with all the reputation from Oly bronze and gold, and also from being world champon).

So far Eteri beats Orser in juniors (where comparable hehe) imho. Gogolev beats Sasha by 0.5 in SP (eww no 3A for ladies, unfortunately) but Sasha beats him by about 4 points in FS. Insert evil laugh here.

ISU, just saying, looking at top ladies TES here, my thought is maybe you should have same factoring for PCs for both men and ladies? I dunno, fairness and equality. Or give ladies some huge bonus on quads.

There is 4Lz in the report with judges details so Ice Fairy is late :bed:

The problem is that not only Zagitova and Medvedeva didn't skate cleam. The real problem is that all the skaters were stressed and very tired, with a lot of presure on them.
In this conditions, the test skating is worthing to be held?

btw am i the only one who doesn't want to watch the test skates to not spoil the first impression when all those girls will perform their programs at actual competition with more or less decent camera work?

I watched the Junior test skates before the JGP and it doesn't spoil at all. in fact, you get more hyped!
Watching the real competitions, with good quality streaming and the dresses on for the first time is still an unique experience

They do this every single year, they know to prepare for it. You have to be able to deal with stress in order to be a good competitor. I think some of them - most, even? - enjoy showing their programs to the Russian audience first. What conditions do you think they ought to be held in?

I feel like changing the location site between SP and FS portions of the test skate probably added unnecessary exhaustion to all the skaters.. it seems as though with the exception of maybe one or two, most didn't seem to have a good skate. It's just test skates so I'm sure everyone will progress.

I do agree with this. It was a strange decision...hope they don't do it that way again.

You pointed very well with the location.
I'm sure they will progress.
And one more thing:on girls is the biggest pressure. Why Rus Fed let them to skate so late?
It seems that this year Rus Fed wanted to try something new.I hope that the athletes apreciated it.

Wait but wasn't the short program also in Moscow (just in a smaller rink?)? If so 20-30 minutes of car driving are not exhaustive. (although traffic in Moscow is really bad)

It really shouldn't have been URed though, especially if the 4T with the fall was supposedly clean.

what's your favorite moment in Trusova's FS?
i just LOOOVE this one, so perfectly accented to the music... (and after this, who dares to say that she doesn't feel the music?)
