not really https://twitter.com/sukeota2001/status/1066108244270112768I won't say that her jumps got stronger. At least not in competition. Her axel became better and that's all to me

Oh you have got to be joking...
She's officially crazy. At this rate, Trusova and Yuzuru will be snapping Instagram pics together from their hospital beds before the season ends...
The reaction that I expected.
The better results she showed before the stronger was the choir of critics. The worse she is performing now - the stronger the support is.
Let's not talk about what will be in 4 years. We don't know. No one will remember what we were talking about today. And even if I stay here and there will be no Medvedeva Evgenija competing in 4 years and I say: "I told you!" the reaction will be likely: "really? so what?"
Let's talk about what is going on this season. Eteri or Borser to blaim, she is near the collapse of her career. She still has some pcs support which will vanish quite soon if she keeps skating like in France. Then she is a 170-180 point skater which means she is no one in Russian figure skating.
The Nationals is her final chance. She just has to skate her programs without big mistakes. Her main competition is Sofia and Stasya (who would think?). I am sure that if she manages to concentrate she still can find a way to deliver. With clean performances I think she will be placed ahead of the 2 St. Petersburg skaters. Can she change the layout? I think, if she manages 2A-3Lo the current one is quite promising. As I wrote 2 weeks ago (not 4 years) she had to replace the second lutz with a flip. She did that. But she needs the levels as well. If she gets them I see her scoring 75+145=220. It won't be enough to beat Alina and clean Liza but it will be more than enough to get the team. And then we shall all say: "ooooph"
But listen, Brian's team makes major mistakes a lot of the time. So does Eteri's. Name me one team or coach that has never made a mistake or is perfect. Same thing happened with Mao the GP season she was reworking here technique,
Medvedeva actually faired better overall,
If she perceivers she could be back in World podium shape
for a good portion of the Quadrennial.
She left her long time coach and perhaps it was done without respect but truly, why does that bother you so much? People should stop hiding behind the excuse of, "but in my culture-" in order to continue to spout hateful #### at these incredible athletes.
I also don't understand the need to compare Brian and Eteri. They are different in every single way and there's no point in trying to be experienced soothsayers.
It's not just Med leaving her coach. It's the fact that she left a Russian coach for a CANADIAN coach. The only worse thing she could've done is go for an American coach. She would not receive this amount of flak if she moved within Russia.
There is a significant degree of hyperaggressive nationalism at play here with the gleeful reactions over Med's current situation. Her failing equates to the Russian system being superior in the minds of certain posters, and a middle finger to Med for daring to leave the motherland.
I'm very sad for Evgenia but at the same time very happy for Sofia. They'll battle it out for Russia's nr 3 at nationals.
So now Mishin has two students in the GPF, who would have thought before the season started![]()
