2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Golden Spin:

2. A. Gubanova 198.65

4. A. Guliakova 188.90

5. M. Sotskova 179.72
So Gubanova made it to top 24, #20. Some ladies that might surpass her: Higuchi (if sent to 4CC/WC), Kanysheva (unlikely but doable), Eunsoo and Daleman (if sent to 4CC/WC), so i guess its safe to say she's likely staying in top 24 SB. Guliakova rose to #28 and Sotskova is #39

She's in the top 24 yes but unfortunately only the 10th ranked Russian on the SB list so GP spots still aren't guaranteed.

In the top 20 from Russia are:
1. Alina Zagitova (238.43) *
2. Alexandra Trusova (221.44) *
3. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (219.02) *
4. Anna Shcherbakova (205.39) *
5. Evgenia Medvedeva (204.89)
6. Alena Kostornaia (203.50) *
7. Serafima Sakhanovich (203.06)
8. Anna Tarusina (198.76)
9. Sofia Samodurova (198.70) *
10. Anastasia Gubanova (198.65)

(Stanislava Konstantinova is 21st on the SB list with 197.57)

Skaters with a * next to their name are at the GPF and might get a higher SB.

Yes that -1 time violation in the short must hurt now :(
being 10th I would assume will make her first alternate for the GPs next season (at least among russians) if someone should retire (say Liza who has talked about it) she would be in (I assume).
As far as i know there really isnt any rules for what to do when more than 9 skaters from a contry make the top 24sb list and technicaly are garateed one spot.

At the moment Russian Ladies hold half of the spots in the top 24. It really looks like they're going to need a SB circa 200 in order to guarantee themselves two spots on the GP next year.

1 238.43 Alina ZAGITOVA *
2 221.44 Alexandra TRUSOVA *
3 219.02 Elizaveta TUKTAMYSHEVA *
4 205.39 Anna SHCHERBAKOVA *
5 204.89 Evgenia MEDVEDEVA
6 203.50 Alena KOSTORNAIA *
7 202.62 Serafima SAKHANOVICH
8 198.76 Anna TARUSINA
9 198.70 Sofia SAMODUROVA *
10 198.65 Anastasia GUBANOVA
11 197.57 Stanislava KONSTANTINOVA
12 194.15 Alena LEONOVA
-----------top 24---------
13 191.84 Alena KANYSHEVA *
14 190.69 Anastasia TARAKANOVA *
15 188.90 Anastasia GULIAKOVA
16 187.91 Kseniia SINITSYNA
17 182.87 Viktoria VASILIEVA
18 179.72 Maria SOTSKOVA

- Skaters with a * after their name are competing at J/GPF and might have a chance to further increase their seasons best.
- Sotskova probably has the WS points in order to guarantee herself 1 assignment on the GP next year (this would presumably mean the 9th ranked lady would only get one spot)
- Liza may? be retiring, if so everyone below her would be bumped up a spot (obviously)
- The same goes if one of 3A decides not to move up (unlikely IMHO)
- Kanysheva and Sinitsyna are age ineligible and would not be able to compete senior or do the senior GP next year even if there was a wave of mass retirements and they ended up in the top nine!

Sorry I deleted my original post! I felt it had a negative/dismissive tone and decided to reword it! But yes, Liza may very well retire and if thats the case anyone below her would be bumped up a spot (similarly if one of 3A decided to stay junior).

Honestly I don't know what will happen with Russian GP assignments next year. Their depth in ladies is really beginning to break the system.

You should update Maria's score.

Have watched protocols again, oh my. I was curious what entries and exits there should be to earn +4 +5 on jumps with new system and here is the answer, nothin at all lol
Great job, isu... Rusfed should abandon this circus and take away all their athletes now. Let them "compete" themselves, I will be glad to see these lost frees. There always was very "strange" judging in Canada, now we see it's clearly impossible to host any event there. Without Russian athletes gpf will be considered as failed one, and this is a logical outcome of this mess

Yes, according to the new recommendations you dont need to have dificult entry for +5. You need to have 3 core bullets and two of the rest GOE bullets - body position and element with the music!

Tonight we will know which lady is the best in the world... and yes, that result will not see the senior competition, but in the junior, where there may be another destruction of records with each jump...

The world is impatient.

Kanysheva isn't old enough for seniors next season.

I want to keep her (and Sinitsyna) on there to show how deep the field is but I've marked them both out with italics and put a note at the end to mention that they won't be competing seniors next year even if all the other russian ladies retire!

Gubanova’s StSeq in her FS covers so much ice it’s insane.

https://youtu.be/oRQDmG8H9pI?t=2m55s
Did she use a 3-3 as a transition into her StSeq :laugh2:

This girl brings it and gets a lv 4 with very positive GOE. If I’m not mistaken it’s the 4th highest element on her scoresheet because of the GOE

I’ve made a note of which judges kept her from having the highest SS today :roll5:

This is the first time I've seen that program. Extremely unimpressive.

Thank you for that information. It's just frustrating not to see her get to 70 on the short program or 200 points overall.

Can someone explain to me why Masha didn’t get level four on her flying camel?

She had the following bullets

- At least six revs (I thought it was 8?)
- Difficult position (donut)
- Difficult position (the forward camel)
- difficult entrance (butterfly)

or does the butterfly not count as a “difficult entrance”

I’m just confused because she’s been getting pretty consistent level fours on the flying camel.

Its time to change the systdm. Russia has incredible depth now in ladies figure skating right now and in two or three years it's going to be insane!
