2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I like Trusova, but today they gave national PCs bonus to seniors only. This clearly means they don't want juniors with gold medal.

That makes a perfect sense.
They have already girls with quads and next season they will be even more.
What they want is a senior skater who can stay at the top longer then one/two seasons.

And they want to make sure that quads and the technical panel is not the only important thing in figure skating. Even after JGPF the girls try to be more like Kostornaya (develop their musicality), not only like Trusova.

But I actually think that Sasha and Alena have still chance for the gold tomorrow.

Euros team will be Alina, Liza and Stasya if she doesn‘t have a meltdown. Otherwise it will be Sofia.

Not gonna comment on Zhenya cause my heart‘s broken anyway but yeah... hopefully she‘ll get sent to Universiade and some minor B competitions.

I really hope they send her to Universiade. She would have another 2 1/2 months to train and prepare more. What B competitions are left this season?

It was nice to see Anna S. having such a strong comeback after the GPF. I hope this strong short gives her enough of a confidence boost to nail her FS.
Sasha slayed of course. I just love her Lutz-Loop combo
Alena is an angel on ice. Her double Axel has so much height. It would be great to see her getting her 3 Axel back because the height and distance is there.
Stanislava had a beautiful short program. Also happy to see Alina nailing her combo after the trouble she had a few times with it this season.

After the practice this morning I never would have guessed that the only 2 girls with a fall would be Alena and Zhenya...

Many girls really turned up! And the only 'lady' Leonova with 70+

Alena Leonova just keeps marching on!

Looking at the list of ladies I figure in Russian skating terms she must be older then Jesus or Adam and Eve

What happened to Polina Tsurskaya? After her short program she had a 75 but I now she is not on the results.

Yep. Leonova is so enjoyable to watch, because you can see that she really loves skating. Others would have given up if they were her age a long time ago. She is 28 and still slays.

Can anyone explain to me how funding works in Russia? Let‘s say Zhenya finishes anywhere that isn‘t near to top 6 and outside top 10. Will she continue to get funding next season? I doubt it as nationals are important...

Well from the comments people from RusFed and Sports Ministry have made Evgenia is already paying most of her training by herself.

Exactly... it's clear that the RusFed doesn't want a junior to win. So even if Trusova is in the free clean and with 2 quads will end up on second probably.
It is also clear that they still prefer Konstantinova (to Samodurova). And even Kostornaya to Trusova. Trusova if it s not clean may very well end up on third or lower.

They gave her the 2nd highest PCS, So that's something... Sigh...

Please tell me Kostornaia got the highest...otherwise there is no justice in this world.

EDIT: Oh right, Zagitova duh. Dunno why she slipped from my mind for just a second there, but no shade was intended by this comment. Do enjoy me some Zagitova too.

For me alena is better than Sasha. Yes Sasha has her quads, but for me alena is the whole package even without quads. So I would not find it unfair at all if alena gets placed before smash if Sasha isn't clean but alena is

There used to be a rule for letting a strong skater to come back, so if that is still a thing, they will give her a second chance next season.

Well from the comments people from RusFed and Sports Ministry have made Evgenia is already paying most of her training by herself.

What is not paid by the Federation, it is by her sponsors and those will go away if she is no longer a top skater and she doesn't go to the most important competitions.

What happened to Polina Tsurskaya? After her short program she had a 75 but I now she is not on the results.

Last year she got 75, she was a much stronger skater.

Now she is coming from a disastrous GP season and all her jumps that used to be huge and beautiful are now a question mark in the rotation.
