2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

will there be any hesitation by the Russian Federation or the Russian judges to put three eteri girls on the podium tomorrow? There is a very good chance of that happening if the scoring is fair.

The only thing that surprised me was Trusova not getting the highest TES although she has the toughest layout - not just doing a 3Lz-3Lo but smashing it in the 2nd half!

Yes, Kostornaya is better than Trusova except jumps... that is why I wish and hope that next season she will have a more complicated tech content, in order to be competitive in the seniors.

The real advantage is Sasha holds her own fate in her hands. By having a technical advantage she isn’t relying on a panel of judges to swoon over her. She can rely on her athletic ability to shoot beyond all that. She’s kind of like Robinhood for all of us who feel oppressed by the over valuing and years of abuse of PCS.

Personally I think people undersell Sasha’s performances but that’s ok. I still think her StSeq in Kill Bill is among the best this season. :drama:

If PCS were an accurate meter we’d see Sasha score high PCS in the SP and often score lower in FS when she frequently tires. PCS is more of a reputation mark than anything and I think they are pushing Sasha’s down to save the less technically blessed. It’s a bit of a lol but to be expected I guess. Ebb and flow ;)

Sasha is really good, I like her as a skater and as a person (as much i managed to know her). I'm sure she will develop further her artistic ability and musicality.
For now, i don't feel that she owns the ice totally, but it's ok she has time to grow, especially with her very good basis: jumps and skating skills.

But is it really that expansive comparing to the costs in Moscow? Someone can provide her with an appartment, Rus Fed will cover all the travelling costs and equipment and Orser can give her some discount based on the results, in game is his reputation too after all.

If Tuktamysheva and Lipnitskaya could start their career without literally no finantial fundings, Med, an Olympic Silver medalist can make it.

There are still a lot of well paid shows where she can participate to pay for everything by herself.

Orser giving her a discount? I think the rate he charges (as far as I know) is reasonable considering the caliber of coach that he is.

He honestly doesn’t need Zhenya for his ‘reputation’

I’d like to see Yulia return and become Sasha’s personal spin coach alongside Eteri.

Same as with zhenya I think. She too left eteri to train with another trainer. She too seems to change bodywise at the moment at least for me it looked that way. Mabye she too is changing skating style and correcting it .? She just doesn't have the eyes of everyone on her like zhenya has.at least not in that format like zhenya

Zhenya showed earlier this season that she can still pull it off. The SP at the test skates was great, she scored over 200 at Autumn Classics and medalled at Skate Canada. The problem is that she is regressing with the jumps and at every competition she looks less confident.

While unfortunately at no point Tsurskaya and Sotskova showed that they can come back.

To create the Yoda of figure skating.

I know it would never happen though obv

This made me laugh :D

On another note, I think it was really unfair giving the juniors Junior PCS (except Alena). Trusova's program (skating) was great, and so was Anna's. Is there really a 6 point difference between Alina and Eteri's juniors? :scratch2: Even Alena and Anna apart, Trusova with the same layout as Alina and better jumps only had a 0.32 TES advantage :scratch2:

She will never return to Eteri, but i'd like to see her working as a choreographer (no other russian skater right now has her sophisticated style) or as a coach maybe at Plushenko's Academy.

Evgenia has been solid in her practices, so I wouldn't necessarily count her out just yet since she theoretically has the ability to skate a high-scoring LP. It's disappointing that she has been so much worse in competition this season when she had been amongst the strong competitors in the past.

Evgenia's going through a chain of very humbling experiences at the moment,
As long as she keeps going and still counts herself in, I don't really care who's counting her out
Let's wish her lots of luck tomorrow.

Isn't it exactly the same scenario when Alina first entered the Russian nationals in 2016/2017? Between her and Zhenyas technical score there wasn't a big difference and Alinas layout was way more difficult. And of course Zhenya got some PCS support as well.

Since the PCS is kind of based on previous achievements, it makes sence that the world gold medalist and olympic champion would get some advantage.

Next years Sasha and Alena would have higher PCS and they will outscore new juniors like Kamila Valieva whose interpretation and musicality is maybe higher then their.

Every year all the same.

With a lot of luck she still cat score higher then Stasya and Sofia. She doesn't need to medal, only to score higher then other seniors.
