2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I think Turenko might've worked for Radionova if she'd wanted. Of course, she'd have to move to St. Petersburg.
Turenko has done wonderful work with Sakhanovich, Nugumanova, and Gubanova, and I could see her giving unique programs and a solid foundation to Radionova to help her earn more GOE on her jumps.

Some random thoughts:

Kostornaia's gala performance from Vancouver looks incredibly magical. Lights, camerawork, suit made outstanding picture.
Unfortunately Trusova is now too old for Big Spender although 4T in second half of the program is impressive.

She did her short program from last year, correct?

On January 12-13 there will be a Moscow Cup with Valieva, Usacheva, Kromykh, Kanysheva, Shabotova, Kostyuk, and more! (hopefully Sinitsyna as well)
I don't know anything else but I dearly hope there will be a stream

That should be exciting to watch, and a welcome glimpse of this cohort's developing bag of tricks.
I wonder whether Samodelkina will be there. She has been acquitting herself well against the Eteri and Panova skaters. Is she with Davydov?
Where does Sofya(?) Muravieva fit in age-wise. Is she in this cohort or younger?

Yay a lot of the jrNats participants that will be interesting :)

The last 50 seconds or so of Anna Shcherbakova's Russian Nationals free skate is such a joy to watch again and again. It's perhaps my favorite skating highlight since the Olympics.

Start around 3:32 in this video...https://youtu.be/UCWq0fycW6M?t=212. What you see is one of those moments when a skater has completed all her jumps, knows she has the program in the bag, and now feels free to approach her finale with nothing but exuberance. (And yet, once the program is over, she's so sweet and modest she barely celebrates. Anna being Anna.)

I think part of my enjoyment of this is having watched Anna in person at the Junior Grand Prix Final in Vancouver, struggling through practice and competition to skate cleanly, showing so much frustration yet so much quiet determination. It was tough seeing her standing there beside Alina, Alena, and Sasha at the end of that weekend, the only one of the four undecorated. I doubt that was easy for her. But it made it all the sweeter to watch her have her moment at Russian Nationals, hopefully the first of many such moments for her competing at a senior level.

I read recently that Camille Saint-Saëns wrote "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" for virtuosic Spanish violinist Pablo de Sarasate, who was only 15 at the time of its composition. How appropriate, then, that a virtuosic Russian figure skater, soon to be 15 herself, pay tribute to the piece with her own exhilarating performance.

Muravyeva is born late 2006 - so she is a bit older but will make her JGP debut with Samodelkina, likely. Akatieva and Berestovskaya must wait another year.

I know what you mean. I think I've watched Alina's olympic performace 100 times (that combo save is epic!!) and now I have a new favourite program to rewatch - Anna Shcherbakova's - it is just that amazing!

Other things I love so much about the clip...

• Daniil and Sergei bowing their heads, as if to say a brief prayer, just before her program begins (0:25).

• TAT's shriek of enthusiasm when Anna hits her quad lutz (0:57).

• After Anna's jump sequence later in the program, TAT sighing like a woman who's just been surprised with a stunning piece of jewelry (2:49).

• Daniil and Sergei's triumphant reactions after the quad lutz (5:33). Especially Sergei thrusting up Anna's lucky (?) bear doll.

Does anyone have a link to the clip of Anna backstage when she finds out she won, i.e. after Sasha's scores are announced? I can't remember where I saw it.

With Loena out of Europeans a full Russian sweep for the podium is now secure unless Alexia Paganini steps up her game and Stasia or Sofia have some rough skates, but I doubt it. Must say I am kind of disappointed, I wanted Loena to fight with one of the girls for a 3rd or 2nd place it would have been exciting to see them battle it out and see who is stronger. Now the competition is kind of predictable.
