2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Nice solid performances today by all 3 junior girls. Sinitsyna a little bit underscored me thinks, can't see why Liu should be ahead of her. But a a great opportunity for a clean sweep tomorrow.

Winter Unviersiade was more of a diverse group. One girl had a tech score of 1.9 and a total of 8.21 :scratch2: Now I've seen it all, I thought. It should be impossible to score that low!! But a great skate by Konstantinova and as expected by Sotskova.

Can someone translate what are TAT and Grishin saying?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxvB5FRvMMI

Grishin before the skating:
"The athlete on the ice will defend her title. The current junior world champion, going out on the ice and smiling 14 y.o. athlete from Eteri Tutberidze, Sergey Dudakov and Daniil Gleikhengauz group, Alexandra Trusova. Kill the Bill program."

After the skating:
TAT: "Of course, she jumped perfectly. But there will be a fight now, of course. Because she jumped amazing, and Shcherbakova did the same. Both of them had 3Lz-3T in the second half of the program. Both with hands over the head. Coaches are happy, why not to be happy? Yes, she jumped with a little inclination, it is not her Axel. For some reason I was worried about her. Because it is hard to defend the title. Preparing quads and then jump triples."

Grishin: "Have to rebuild probably?"

TAT: "I don't know, have to ask Eteri Georgievna."

TAT: "She can't show all her capabilities here in a short program. And this holds her back a little, as I feel it all. Because her strongest sides are this energy, strength, breaking oneself and going, such fearlessness. And Scherbakova has this program, in which she, both in music and in her soul, is perfect for her. They all skates very well. I think that Shcherbakova will be left first. I think so, I do not know."

Grishin: "It’s not too long to wait, Tatyana Anatolyevna."

TAT: "Sasha in a free program, of course when she is tuned, she is invincible. Ugh, ugh, ugh, do not jinx it."

Grishin: "A charming smile on Alexandra Trusova’s face."

TAT: "What a pretty one!"

Grishin: "Her result for the short program is 72.49 points, and this is indeed 0.37 points less than Anna Scherbakova."

TAT: "Well, this is nothing at all, and it’s good that our two girls are ahead, because in the short program, Shcherbakova has the opportunity to show her strengths, but Tiny - the rules keep her back."

She was last in the group and barely jumped in all that time before her run-through? Doesn’t sound like her at all, I hope she isn’t sick or injured or something...hopefully she was just tired?

You know, I have a feeling both are tired, and the coaches are tired. It has been a long season with so many huge competitions, starting with the JGP's, the JGP final, then Russian seniors, then Russian juniors...At this point, I would expect they are all just looking forward to the season being over. (And on to senior season). I wonder, in fact, if Kosternaia's vague 'medical issues' is just clinical exhaustion-if it were something definitive, I would think they would say-for example a torn/bruised ligament etc. It just seems strange that they were not specific, as they usually are specific about injuries. Or maybe, as the most senior of 3A skaters, Kosternaia was just done with junior competitions.
Today Anna and Sasha seemed sort of punchy, like they are just relieved to endure the final test of the season. I think they will both throw everything in tomorrow, but I don't think either one will be that upset if it doesn't work out.
I hate 3L3L-the points are not worth the risk. (Neither is the 4Lutz for Sasha, the 4T4T scores more)

Thank you!

You are being very disrespectful. Look at what heights that team brought Alena. If you're gonna be nasty like this, just leave.

The "heights" are only short term, as history has shown. I fully expect the recent talk of a switch to fully materialize for her, just like it did for Medvedeva, Lipnitskaya, Tsurskaya, Tarankova, and some other former students who 'left' that team.

short term or not they're heights nonetheless. alena wouldn't have developed into nearly as great of a skater anywhere else. it's shocking how much she improved in a year under eteri. if she does leave, her current coaches have given her a great foundation to work with.

as for the other skaters you've listed, most of them left for personal reasons so idk how that helps your argument

Everybody leaves something sooner or later, even if it is just "this mortal coil".

If you keep saying it long and often enough, like a broken clock, you will now and then be accidentally correct.

Meh, expected responses from this thread. I think the evidence has already been posted often enough and speaks for itself.

And here's a quote for y'all from Carl Sagan that is applicable here :

“For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.”

:scratch3:
I could be wrong, but somehow I don't think Carl Sagan was talking about figure skating when he said that.

But I do agree that the "evidence" has already been posted enough.
