2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

... TAT: "She can't show all her capabilities here in a short program. And this holds her back a little, as I feel it all. Because her strongest sides are this energy, strength, breaking oneself and going, such fearlessness. ..

TAT is talking about Trusova, right? I agree. She can do this SP in her sleep. :) Tomorrow's the thing!

Meh, expected responses from this thread. I think the evidence has already been posted often enough and speaks for itself.

And here's a quote for y'all from Carl Sagan that is applicable here :

“For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.”

one could make the same argument both ways lol i guess we'll all just continue to see what we want to see.

The "heights" are only short term, as history has shown. I fully expect the recent talk of a switch to fully materialize for her, just like it did for Medvedeva, Lipnitskaya, Tsurskaya, Tarankova, and some other former students who 'left' that team.

Well it's not like other Russian girls not from Eteri have long term success e.g. Radionova, Sotskova

Her new coach hopefully?

Man, you really didn't know Rozanov? And you are talking about delusion? No way

If you would at least watch the ladies SP at universiade, you would have seen Rozanov with Lilbet, but that would be hard, when somebody could just sit and criticize from the armchair without knowledge. It's like a religion with one basic truth to which reality must be submitted for you.

Silly TSL think Rozanova is hot? Oh, well, Rozanov's hotness is way out the TSL's league. Besides they both are not even figure skaters.

I think Eteri is at Universiade with Moris and Lil'Bet in Krasnoyarsk. Moris got bronze, Lil'Bet - 4th place with a tiny gap from bronze or silver.

I believe Eteri is in Moscow with Alina and the rest, doubt that all four coaches would leave when the preparations for the senior worlds are under way.

Congrats to Lilbet BTW, her skate was great even with the fall on 3Lz. I am curious if she would try quad salchow. With success it could bring her gold (not saying she couldn't still win gold even without it).

Some us need to work and can't just sit around all day to watch and talk about figure skating. I catch up when I can ;).

Considering the number of comments of which the only topic is "Eteri bad/Alyona definitely is leaving Eteri" I would guess the author has some knowledge about the topic he writes so much about. Making strong statments of this kind should be based on knowledge, not on pure personal sentiment. And one should also admit he was wrong when he was wrong.

Perhaps you should take your own advice. Eteris other skaters had their reasons for leaving. Their comments are readily available for you to read instead of coming up with conspiracy theories that for your narritive. And you’ll see they’re entirely different reasons. Skaters leave coaches all the time. Many skaters have left big name coaches like Brian Orser whom you respect (as do I). Why is it only negative when they leave Eteri?

Good skating today! to Alexandra :hap85: Anna :hap85: Kseniya :hap85:

And also to

Stanislava and Mariya and Elizabet
:hap85: :hap85: :hap85:

What an overload of excitement!

:)

This ^^^ again, for Saturday too

Excitement heaped upon excitement :agree2:

Marvellous, controlled skating in their SPs by Stanislava, Elizabet, Alexandra, Anna, Ksenia and Panova's other snowleopard, Anna Kuzmenko, who is well-placed in 7th now. Stanislava seemed to be really enjoying herself and it was nice to see her delight at her score. Universiade has drawn huge, supportive crowds to the rink.

Good luck to them all :dance2:

Nice solid performances today by all 3 junior girls. Sinitsyna a little bit underscored me thinks, can't see why Liu should be ahead of her. But a a great opportunity for a clean sweep tomorrow.

Winter Unviersiade was more of a diverse group. One girl had a tech score of 1.9 and a total of 8.21 :scratch2: Now I've seen it all, I thought. It should be impossible to score that low!! But a great skate by Konstantinova and as expected by Sotskova.

I think that's a byproduct of the starting numbers Sinitsyna was #19 and Liu was #44; there's usually a bit of a scoring bump for skaters in the 'final flight'.

Who is Liu? That is not the skaters name or even close to it. Her name is Ting Cui. Personally, I think both Ting and Sinitsyna deserve higher PCS. They both have good SS and performance qualities although their programs are vastly different in style.

Who is Liu? Alysa Liu? She's not competing here. The one that compete is Ting Cui lol. Anyway judges are really stingy with GOE and PCS overall. They only give higher GOE to more well known skaters like Sasha/Anya, Ting Cui as well. Its not fair how they cut down the scores of relatively new but good skater like Ksenia, Hanna Harrell, Tomoe Kawabata, etc. If Young You/Yuhana Yokoi skate clean they will get better GOE and PCS for sure since they have been juniors for 2 season at least and place higher than Kseniia.

You are being very disrespectful. Look at what heights that team brought Alena. If you're gonna be nasty like this, just leave.

Alena has gotten so good under Eteri and is the most beautiul skater. She wont leave EG anytime soon. There is no need to.

Pretty sure Sergey Rozanov was with Moris and Elizabet. I doubt Eteri would put overseeing Worlds preparation with Alina on hold for a non-ISU event like Universiade.

Ooops! My mistake! Of course I meant Ting Cui. Total mental breakdown...:slink:

Trusova still struggled with the 3Lz3Lo today, even with single 3Los. It’s more difficult for her to land it than quads...

Runthrough she only had a fall on 4Lz and practice was ok overall though she looked tired, it got much better at the end where she made fewer mistakes and the 3Lz3Lo worked out better.

@teamtrusova_official on insta has streamed live each of her practices entirely (he’s the guy with the huge trusova banner)

This is weird.. How can she land quads and then struggle with 3Lz-3Lo? My unprofessional guess it's the timing that's bothering her. I think for 3Lz-3Lo you need to be really precise which might not work out if you're tired and not 100% focused. I don't think it has anything to do with injuries or puberty, it's just been a long long season for both her and Anna (and Alena too). Hopefully they will be able to end it on a high note with two medals - gold and silver. Who gets which will be decided today but I hope afterwards they get a good break before starting to work on their senior debut. They deserve a rest.

I agree with your unprofessional guess! (as a fellow unprofessional)

It almost seems like one continuous jump instead of a combination of 2 jumps.

If needed, can she do a 3Lz-3T instead in the LP (like the SP)?

Personally, I hope she still does the 3Lz-3Lo.
If she had done it in the SP, I think she would be in 1st place.
So those little fractions of points do matter!
