2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

to Edwin
Don't you think that some FS-children can perfectly understand that a video stream can be recorded? And maybe even interested in it (the growth of popularity, fame)

P.S. Moreover, I'm not at all sure that an adult made the video recording (I do not deny this option, but I am not sure either). 13-year-old children are not babies, they are well aware of what popularity is. Their childhood is expressed in the fact that they do not understand what forces they sometimes encounter.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was not aware of it, so I will seek it out and mull over it, perhaps. It is horrible when there is nastiness expressed towards Alina from all quarters and we know that Alina has been and remains the target of much criticism from the media and from certain envious adults and near-adults. (But it is also clear that they represent a tiny, though very vocal, minority of voices, far outweighed by the adoration Alina inspires.)

But we need caution imputing the same levels of conscious ill-intent from children on the cusp of and in their early teens, even though we know that children of all ages can be thoughtlessly cruel (towards parents, siblings, friends, rivals, strangers...) We also know the mind matures far later than the body, only starts to catch up with the body age in the late teens and through the twenties (in some people never). And furthermore, these girls and boys are under very peculiar pressures as (effectively) professional athletes. Some respond to these pressures in remarkably mature ways, others, of course, not so much. As adults ourselves, we have to decide when it is right to megaphone and prolong things and and when to downplay and let the lapses fade away. If there is a genuine problem with any particular skater, it will surely keep resurfacing.

I would say, however, however much we are aware of something like this doing the rounds in the social and actual media, we can be certain that Eteri and the management at Khrystalnyi are that much better informed than we are, so I'm quite sure they know what they are doing.

Well said Gitledge.

Alina envy lives on lets just hope she doesn't care. Zhenya left Alina was like...okay.

Goodness, a feast of Team Tutberidzes...

I’m so confused about this account. Because while it’s called avtrusova.hate, the second post congratulates Sasha for a “well-deserved” victory, but also says she’s robotic. Or perhaps it is just the translator. Can someone explain whether this is a hate account or not?

Any news on Polina Tsurskaya after Russian Nationals? She had so much promise and I hope she is still training and will compete next season, but only Senior B at best?

How does one get tickets to this??

Does anyone know what the difference between the Moscow Championship that happened a couple weeks ago and the Moscow Championship that is happening now is? I was under the impression that the last one was a qualifier from Younger and Elder Age Nationals. Is this one a qualifier for anything?

It's two different competitions. This one is for Elder Age, the last one was for younger age. Names are not the same.

It looks like a mocking hate account. 1st post explains the popular idea of someone being well above the rest as being a Dark Side adept.
- Just look at her white-black Gala costume.

Also:
- What's bad in a well done, beautiful and argument filled hate account? Critique is good.

Consider it a "I know to create IG accounts!" exclamation.

Girlfriend of Kanysheva says how difficult it is to answer journalists' questions.
K: "Especially stupid questions that are not clearly understood what to answer"
G:"Exactly. What do you like .... I do not know ... in training? Well, try, answer this question! Answer smoothly and not stammer like Zagitova. Mmm... well.. uh... here... mmm... tomorrow, I.... probably... can be, possible...I don't want to talk!"
Kanysheva laughs and says that she is sure that Alina refused to talk about Medvedeva (during the transfer in May) only because she cannot speak well. Her friend unexpectedly disagreed and said that she was confident that Zagitova’s refusal was due to moral reasons.

Unpleasant video, tbh. I think Alina may experience some psychological stress, especially considering that she is an introvert. But on the other hand, the video is just a 13-year-old teenager.

Kids and streaming is SUCH a bad idea... honestly, as unpleasant as it is, kids talking smack about each other, especially when there's jealousy of someone's achievements at play, is a completely normal thing. Recording it is not. It's the same as with that girl I forgot the name of who recently sent the fans and media into a doping frenzy by saying stupid stuff on a stream. The lesson here is: Parents, don't let your children anywhere near unsupervised streaming! They have no idea how to handle themselves and will say things that can have huge consequences they don't even think of.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you have contact with insiders or where did you get this information from? (the information about her going to Eteri and Eteri giving her a locker)

I know 3 ways how does insider info appears:
1) a person from the team shared info with a friend who trains in another team (weaker one) and is not famous at all, but want to impress someone and to reveal as expert, this "friend" can provide some info to fans
2) a person from the team who is newcomer and has very few fans and is excited that their number is increasing can share some info with fans but with condition "don't tell it was me"
3) a person not from the team is lying or trolling (after all, 1% of people are schizophrenics)

I really hope there will be a live stream for this. The camera angles at JW did not allow for a proper impression of Anna and Sasha’s exhibition numbers! Also, a chance to see Alena as a vampire 😈

Yes, the camera cuts were awful, weren't they? There was an especially stark contrast between the superb coverage quality at the Winter Universiade and the JWCh.

The following article is an interview with Olga Ryabenko, about the three costumes she quickly turned out for Anna's, Sasha's and Alёna's new exhibitions. She doesn't say much about Alёna's and talks mainly abhout the thinking behind Anna's and Sahsa's.

I think I spent so much energy and emotions this past week that I'm already kinda bored with the off-season, and it's not even the off-season yet! I really hope we see Alena in that event too, since 4 weeks would've passed by then.

Some quotes from the interview:

The situation was complicated by the fact that it was necessary to make not one costume, but three. "What is Alena's costume?" I never reveal such things. In my profession, this is the biggest taboo. Alena will perform and then she will show and tell you everything.

I noticed that in Sia's clips pastel, bodily colors are often used. - In ballroom dancing, dresses are often made in such shades, since this is how they look better on the dance floor. And in figure skating, this is the worst thing you can imagine. No matter how hard you try, you will look naked instead of dressed dressed.

(Zhilina also has a Sia program)
I didn’t want to do the same thing twice, so I had to come up with something new. After reviewing all the clips again, I came to the conclusion that there is only one option. I told Eteri Georgievna: "There is no way out, we will do black and white." She agreed.

(On the kimono mistake)
I want to apologize to everyone. In the next Anya's exibitions, we will undoubtedly take this mistake into account.

(On Anya's black costume)
In fact, it is a collective image. I reviewed a lot of things on the Internet and decided to focus on more cartoony images. Got lots of all sorts of pictures with samurai girls. Kept looking and looking through them, and then got this idea.

(On tight schedule)
I just knew that I had time. On a subconscious level. And then, those are exibitions. Here you are not so worried as for a short or free program, you do not fear that some part of the costume may prevent the skater from gaining points. You can be more creative

Thanks for the link to this insightful article on designing exhibition costumes.

So we’ll most likely see the costumes again in Krasnodar and perhaps other ice shows by that organization. Kostornaya’s and the other participants costumes are still a secret.
Let us be surprised later :-)

I actually prefer it like this, because almost always I hate how costumes look on a mannequin. So, looking forward to it!
