I actually prefer it like this, because almost always I hate how costumes look on a mannequin. So, looking forward to it!
The reasoning of Tutberidze and Ryabenko over the choice of colours is interesting. The ice is so white and very well lit in most competitions, light pastel colours hardly have the desired effect against the flesh toned tights and body stockings that extend to cover the arms. But in the colourful, playful and often dim lights of a gala show, those light colours might even go completely unnoticed or look downright ugly and clashing.
Hence the abundance of bright colours, like the rich rose/blood reds, royal blue (which often looks particulary good), Prussian blue and pinks/purples. Only little greens, and almost no orange/yellows.
PS: I really like the ice this bright white, and most LOC's provide it for their competition. Sometimes however, you still see very dirty ice full of cracks and blotches, which makes any costume look bad.
