2018-19 U.S. Ladies' figure skating

Don't know the reasons but i have seen it mentioned more than once since nationals and no sign of her continuing. She may come back, but I think she may need a break/space.

By the eay - does anyone know what's with Tyler Pierce? I know she was injured and since then no information about her

I keep an eye on her Instagram for signs of skating and have not seen much.

She isn't guaranteed any GP assignments based on her season's best or world standings scores. We won't know who receives the extra invitations for GP events until June. And we won't know who is likely to receive them until we know how many athletes are declining to compete this season. Starr is ranked 52nd on the season's best list, and I think below about 7 U.S. ladies, which is pretty far down the list for being selected for an invitation. However, because this is a post-Olympic season, some of the athletes above her--and significantly some of the U.S. ladies above her--aren't likely to compete the GP. So an invitation is possible. The best way for Starr to control her own destiny, though, is to go out on the summer circuit and win. It would be a very good argument for her to earn a Skate America host berth and the support of USFSA if she doesn't get a GP invite but replacement spots open up. (Which, again, is pretty likely to happen in a post-Olympic season). She placed well at U.S. Nationals so even if she doesn't get a GP, she should be invited to Challenger events.

After the retirees and the non-eligible are removed from the list there will probably be a movement up the list. The top 75 are all going to be on a list eligible to be picked for any GP. If the US is willing to politic, they can encourage some country to take her own. They probably will since she poses no threat to any power house nation. Id imagine NHK would be willing. CoC is another possibility.

But I agree. She needs to focus on having a dynamite summer season. That will ensure she gets the SA spot. I hope they have Philadelphia Internarional again. I really believe that win helped Bradie establish herself before the start of the fall season.

I wish Wagner would have a courage to leave Raf and to move to Canada, to Orser, and to make a fresh start again. I know it never will happens but can i,

Um ... "can I" dream? is that the finish of your thought?

(this reminds me of an Oz book with a Forgetful Poet, Percy Vere, who spoke in verse. Dorothy often furnished his last couple of words.) Screaming, "OT!!!!"

Anyway, that's how I finished your post in my head. :)) If she moved to Toronto, she's be able to train with Shae more often too. But like you say, it seems like an impossible dream.

I pray Ashley will come back. I also hope if she comes she will give it 100%! Watching her skate on SOI was a treat!

Here's a write-up about Starr from March for those who missed it:

Toshawa, Starr's mom, sounds like a really grounded woman. This is really encouraging for Starr!

What a great interview thank you so much for sharing. Yeah her mother sounds deeply grounded and as a skater herself sounds like she's helped her daughter make some good choices. Starr Andrews's having the confidence to make those music choices is so encouraging. I hope she has a fabulous summer season and I'm really hoping to see her at a GP!

About Tessa Hong: she's suffered with Osgood-Schlatter syndrome, a painful condition related to growth that affects the knees. It's left her unable to do the lutz, and her flip is iffy as well. Under those conditions, she couldn't compete and get good results. So she decided to step away from skating and concentrate on her studies.

Nathan Chen suffered from Osgood-Schlatter when he was a junior, which left him unable to do the lutz or work on his 3a. That was why Vincent Zhou was able to beat Nathan for the junior championship in 2013.

Some news on our juniors:
Hanna Harrell posted that she has begun working on 3a/quads
she is also not sure if she will compete as a senior at nationals yet but will obviously continue on the jgp circuit if given the chance
Alysa Liu posted that she will be competing as a senior at nationals(!!!!), her 3a is consistent, she is working all almost every type of quad, she will attempt 3a at nationals and her long program is Witches of Eastwick while she is keeping her sp. Some of that was already posted in fanfests but for those who don't read those.... and some additional info that wasn't posted there.
ALL INFO FROM IG STORIES

did you guys see that Alysa is competing senior nationally and competing her 3a, while working on quads?!? (from her insta story)

Wow!!! It’s llke you took the words out of my short attention spanned brain and formulated into a spot on opinion!

Where, where?!?!? Link, please! [emoji16]
Alysa will only be 13 come nationals....
It's only in international competitions where she is too young to skates seniors. She can do nationals at the senior level, and if she does well, they will pick her for Junior Worlds.

No, she’s still too young for junior worlds next year.☹️ I think.
I’m sorta disappointed that she and her team didn’t choose an obscure, unknown, out of the box program. She could totally do The Red Queen, music from the ballet Jewels, Greigg, etc.

i suffered from this as a young skater (around 10 years old) and was very painful. i had to wear this strange looking knee brace/support thing while skating. wouldnt wish it on anyone, it makes it so hard to do certain skills.
