2018-19 U.S. Ladies' figure skating

Not sure who choreographed but:
SP Music: "I Put a Spell On You” by Annie Lennox
FS Music: “She Used to be Mine” by Sara Bareilles

I'm excited for her comeback and I feel very mixed about these sound choices. "I put a spell on you" is used a lot, especially on the junior level, isn't it? And the Sara Bareilles song, while has strong lyrical content (as is fitting for a musical), doesn't have much of a rhythm that can support a four minute free skate. However, this is a different direction for her compared to the ballet music repertoire she relied on in the past, and I am excited to see her skate in two weeks.

I don't know about the juniors, since I follow the junior men, but not much else.

But on the *senior* level, the Annie Lennox cover (and the Nina Simone cover) of I Put A Spell on You are bona fide, grade A warhorses.:hopelessness:

I guess every skater is entitled to one warhorse.:slink:

the Bareilles song is very meaningful I feel but I agree that it doesn't have a great rhythm for skating. I feel like to skate to that song, you really have to hit everything for it to work...which will be difficult this year. Anyways, as long as she likes the songs :)

I´m not a fan of Gracie, but I hope a "Yuna comeback" for her... she just apeared in Golden Spin with all her triples and better than ever... I wish the same sucess for Gracie

Thanks. So she already competed at junior regionals and junior sectionals (how’d she do, btw?) ,and will be a contender at 2019 junior nationals?

Gabriella skated at 2 JGPs this season, so she got an automatic bye to her Sectionals. I would say she, Audrey Shin, and Emilia Murdock, are top contenders for the junior national title right now.

Doesn't ISU require the name of the choreographer, in addition to the music sometime before the competition starts?
I don't see any reason to be elusive about who choreographed her program. My guess is they are not from any big name choreographer otherwise we should have heard about it. Could it possible that Gracie choreographed herself? Or her sister?

Thank you for posting that article. I love Pooja's skating. She has amazing potential!

We've seen Emmy Ma withdraw from a couple of Challengers so far this season, so I've wondered if she is still competing this year. According to the MJM Facebook, she was at their Sectionals send-off, so she's planning to compete at Nationals! Megan Wessenberg was also at the send-off, but I'm wondering why USFS didn't just assign her to Golden Spin or something to give her a Nats bye. I think she demonstrated potential at SkAm that would have warranted another Challenger that gave her a bye.

And good luck to all!!! I personally know a handful of skaters who advanced from regionals and I’ll be following closely hoping to see their hard work pay off

Is there a link to the lists of ladies skaters who’ll be competing at all 3 (4?) sectionals competitions? I’m guessing we’ll see Vivian Le, Hanna Harrell, Hannah Miller, Livvy Shilling?

Someone above says it’s Jeremy Abbott!!

Thank you for sharing this! I love Pooja. Interesting that she has done competitive ballet - but probably a good sign that she is no longer continuing competitive ballet or violin and focusing more on skating. It's great to have hobbies, but making it to the next level in figure skating means having to give up other very serious pursuits.

Pretty wild that she's working on a 4T - I would not have guessed that. Let's see what she and Alex can do.
