All the ladies currently invited to SA are ranked higher on the SB list than Kailani.

Though LeCavelier and Rajcova are not ranked as high as Hanul.

As the U.S. host pick criteria last year appeared to be the highest summer score, it is entirely possible that the host athlete could be ranked lower than Kailani. Though it is also entirely possible that the host spot will go to Wang, Hicks, Ma, or Zhang (should each continue), who are ranked above Kailani.

my question was rhetorical i am tired of some people always complaining that their faves haven't been invited... all the best skaters are guaranteed two GPs, so if you want your faves doing the GP circuit, you have to expect from them that they qualify on their own terms.

The Australians aren't that weak as a group of skaters. Both Kerry and Craine made the cut for the FS at both Olympics and Worlds, and their Pairs team made the cut at Worlds. OTOH, Canadian lady #3 didn't make the FS at either Oly or Worlds, and even more shocking, Canadian #3 Pairs and #2 Man didn't make the cut at Worlds.

You're absolute right. Australia has much stronger figure skating than Canada. Why, just look at the results from the last Olympics!

Or maybe, once again, you've chosen to ignore Canada's achievements to make a point.

No, and if they are so easy, I wonder why we see top skaters like Zhenya, Boyang, and Gracie Gold try to incorporate them and seem to find them so difficult :scratch:

Maybe they love gimmicks! But, oh, they should stop. I wish they can highlight their skating skills as the real "wow" element soon enough. No more gimmicks 2k18!

I do think these three can have great costumes though. Med and Gracie sure, but Boyang had a very tasteful set this season, too.

The Chinese Skating Federation for the ISU said it would be unable to host any events this season. Some think it's a move to protest them suspending one of their judges, but the federation has not declared that as the reason publicly.

I had been thinking possibly that was a hidden reason....just didnt want to assume....lol...thank you for your reply =)

Skate America

Men: I think voronov can medal
Ladies: Radionova or/and Tsurkaya have to medal … if not forget the third place in the russian field … Win a japonese ladie
Pairs: Easy win for Tarasova/Morozov
Dance: I don’t really care


Skate canada:

Men: I think Jason Brown was lucky
Ladies: It’s look easy for Medvedeva but to many Japanese skaters … and I think if Daria do well here she can become a real contender
Pairs: With a little bit of lucky Boikova/Kozlovskii RUS can medal
Dance: Difficult field for Skoptcova/Aleshin RUS … I love this pair … They didn’t give them a easy one …

Grand Prix Finland
Men: It’s a easy field for a silver or bronze or even gold ( if yuzuru fails a lot) for Kolyada but will depende wich kolyada will appear in the competition … It’s a good field for Erokov debut
Ladies: Easy field for zagitova … Even with high PCs Carolina won’t beat zagitova in her best … and I think Panenkova can medal … I don’t think Konstantinova can survive outside of Russia
Pairs: Easy win for Sui/Han … the other 2 russian pairs will complete the podium … and I think Pavliuchenko/Khodykin in their debur can win
Dance: Probably in this field Stepanova/Bukin can win … but for some reason I don’t know if the will

Men: Bad luck to Russian men .. Yuzuru is in the house .. But the rest of the medals will be russian
Ladies: Easy win for zagitova .. and probaby podium for Tsurskaya … and I hopping the host position for Pogo
Pairs: I Think Russia will have gold, silver and bronze
Dance: Well … Stepanova/Bukin RUS have a easy road to the final

Men: Easy win for Nathan Chen … I think one of the Russian men’s can medal

Anna Pogorilaya and Rika Kihira, for example, may have the ability to be among the best and are not guaranteed two GPs. Rika can make an argument for herself at home. Anna may not be healthy, and if she isn't then she's not among the best right now. Even if she is, however, no guaranteed first or second spot. There are holes in every system. I think it's OK to look at them.

Not be recovering from an injury, not attempting at least 4 differdnt quads - because he most likely will like in CoR last year, not announcing working on 4A? C'mon, he's not going to play it safe, given how through-the-stratosphere his new layout might be, on two new programs no less, I'm expecting a messy beginning. Believe me, I will be overjoyed if he has solid outings, but I'd rather keep my expectations in check.

I don't know why, but my stomach tells me that Yuzu's attitude and priority has changed since NHK and Olympics.
He seems to be more cautious and prudent in practice now, not jumping more than necessary, but very focused and with better quality. His success rate in PyeongChang (practice, competition) and recovery during FaOI was impressive, especially the 4T looks rock solid to me.

I'm not a clairvoyant. Everything can happen in Helsinki and in those four months before, but Olympic pressure and madness is off now. I think, from now on Yuzu will treat every event equally and go into it as if it was his last one. The chance for his first GP victory is not bad.

fair enough but doesn't the top 10 or 12 at worlds get automatic GP spots? that's what i was referring to.
