2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I don't think she maxed out. I will correlate it more with the effect of seeing the same program, so whatever differences, improvements are not so visible, because we have as a reference some very good skates of that program from last season.

You could be right. I don't know how to describe what I mean exactly. For example, if I take one skate of Anna S from her past season, watch it and than turn on her new SP from yesterday, I immediately see that she improved on skating skills and gliding etc. etc. The same with Sasha, I see that her jumps are getting bigger and bigger no matter that she grows and her skating/presentation is showing a tremendous progress for someone who's called to be only about TES. The same goes to Alina, with every season you see positive changes. Even when Evgenia was in her first senior years with Eteri you could see that she improved her gliding at least, even though her layout never really changed. But I kind of can't really see such progress with Alena, which doesn't mean that she's skating bad or something, not at all. I think it's fair to say that she's had masterful skating skills for ages, so she'll probably never get any better at sliding because she's already very close to her best. Her jumps are also very good, so I can't imagine improving them, unless she manages to up her TES. But even her artistry is kind of staying on the same level. Idk.

Seems like Kostornaya's rest/rehab over spring and summer took its time and she had to take it easy, probably more than we reasoned. With Gleikhengauz' workload in staging new programs, there remained too little time to stage a proper new program for Alyona of the same depth and quality as for Anna or Aleksandra? Perhaps after Russian Nationals something new will be staged? Even for a versatile and gifted skater like Alyona these things take time, a proper fit isn't achieved in a day :-)

One of #TeamTutberidzeForProgress' Quartet of Amazing Aces will be need to be left out from the Continental or World Championships in any case, all of us fans will be heartbroken if this has to be Alyona ...
( or Anna, Alina or Aleksandra for that matter )

When I turn on old links, it says something like ''removed because of the claim of xmd1tv". I assume it has something to do with Channel 1. The only available videos of junior test skates are the ones posted by their official channel. Too bad they didn't post senior ones on YouTube and geoblocked them.

It’s weird they weren’t geoblocked for me and I’m definitely not in Russia.

All disciplines are starting in 50 minutes (at 15:00 MSK). Use the same link as yesterday to enjoy ;)

Please post that link again when it goes live. Seems 1tv.ru actively tries to prevent VPN and relay streaming, so having a few spare channels/links to watch would't go amiss.

We can’t forget she had a major injury last year, so when comparing to her first performances post injury at the Champions on Ice tour I see huge improvements. I assume that priority 1 is to restore to the previous level of quality and consistency before working on any changes. And it’s clear they’ve done this because she has changed her lutz entrance and seems to be holding the outside edge better. Also her already good spins looked better, especially the flying camel and layback.

Hopefully they will have time to work on adding a 3A this season (if she is healthy) because her 2A definitely looks big enough to squeeze out another rotation.

Scherbokova's SP is exquisite. I am very impressed how well she managed to skate to the darkness of the piece. Best SP along with Kostornaia's.
