I’m getting Spyro the Dragon vibes from Zhenya’s costume. One of my favorite good dragons ever

I like Evgenia's outfit just fine, although the little arm flutters are weirdly reminiscent of Kamila's long program outfit. Given that the music is the same, I guess I shouldn't be bothered or surprised... But I don't love it.

Speaking of outfits, I never like costume changes / "trick" dresses. I couldn't stand Laurine's, though it made sense with the program, of course. I despised Dina Averina's the most -- different sport, same idea. Like with Alina's Black Swan sleeves, it's just an unnecessary frill that I personally find distracting. These competitors (well, certainly Dina, Alina, and Anna) are SO GOOD -- why add distracting gimmicks? Why, even for a second, would you want too give anyone the opportunity to claim that the athlete didn't earn all her performance marks without the aid of props? I just don't understand.

But judging by online comments, I'm greatly outnumbered. I'm sure this will be regarded as progress (or even #progress, sigh), so I will go back to my fuddy-duddy corner of fandom and accept my defeat on this point with only minor muttering.

Given some of the screamingly twee and affected clothes Eteri's girls have been seen in, I doubt her taste is a benchmark of good taste.

Given that zhenya is not with eteri anymore I think zhenya doesn't even give a damm about how she would find it, and either should we,

If I had to choose between Alina's POTO dress and this catsuit, I'd go for the catsuit, blue pieces and all.

I think it's not ok to bring her into the discussion, because Alina's body looks great in ANY dress or suit. It's unfair to expect other skaters attain her level of attractiveness by simple managing their apparel.

No alina is not perfect, so there are dresses in this world that will not look good on her either, like with any other human too. And certainly not the most attractive girl to live on this world right now, that is not to say that she is not beautiful.
And zhenya also looks amazing in almost everything, just not the second dress of last year's short programm(the blue one)

LOL! Yes I was one of those that said Evgenia was disappointing at Test Skates, but she was really wonderful here. Fantastic skate by Zhenya.

I Did not drag alina down, I just said that there areclothing that will not look good on her, as it is with every human living on earth, I just pointed out that there are certainly woman /girls who are even more beautiful, I also said that this doesn't mean that alina is not beautiful

She got an ! on the Lutz and it didn't hurt scorewise. But why did she only get level 3 on the first spin?
Interesting that she got 2 points more in PCS than Kihira. That can easily translate to ~5 points in the long. If Kihira misses one of her 3A's tomorrow, Zhenya can beat her.

Agree that this silly outfit debate should stop. Like it or hate it (and I love it!), it's irrelevant to bring other skaters or coaches into comparison. I tire of these unnecessary tangents when we could be focusing on discussion of GOEs, program choreography, new jumps or even just being pleased Russia has so many strong ladies this season... truly we are blessed.

Now I've seen Kihira skate. Zhenya was definitely better than her performance wise. Kihira got +7 points on her 3A compared to Zhenya's 2A. But Zhenya made up 4 of those points with better performance and GOE's so she's just 3 points behind. Good job Zhenya.

I thought Evgenia was very elegant. I think the costume looks great on her too, it highlights the program really well and her long lines. I really love this program for her- I think it captures what was good about her skating in the past as well as her maturity and growth.

The problem is now I want to see everyone else skate too- this is the worst, when the season is just starting. I’ve been in skating deprivation too long!
