2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Tsibinova scored 63.91 points in the junior category at Golden Spin and is in the lead after the SP.

Interesting. I wonder if Ksenia is doing the same as Starr Andrews. Updating her junior TES so that she will be eligible for Junior Worlds later on...or Youth Olympics.

Probably, but will she even compete in the Russian junior championships? I think she's qualified for the senior ones only. Or maybe she'll be added my the council.

The whole thing is a bit strange though. Why didn't they just add Tsibinova in the senior contest when Konstantinova WD?

I think she will get more points in that internationall ranking system (Edit: ISU World standings) as a winner of Junior competition, than being 3th or 4th in Seniors. That's why Starr decided to compete as a Junior there too. Or, like you said, maybe they both aim to compete in some major competition which include their age later on in the season. Or both (?!)

Today I learned, that the flower boquets the gymnasts get at the GPF ceremony are EDIBLE :) What a nice twist!

How could anyone be leading in SP with only 63 points? Are the judges really cracking down this year trying to keep the Russian girls under control? The way for a has-been nitpicked has many others wondering.

Andrews received 25.60 in PCS. It's almost 4.5 lower than her marks at GP. Either she forgot how to skate or there is something wrong with judges again.:confused2:

Junior B events don't have any World Standing points as far as I know. Only the JGP and JW do for junior events.

I think we know the answer to that. It's the judges again and it's very strange. But the judges are not helping this sport anyway they are hurting it and turning people away from one of the greatest sports in the world.

Right? She uses too much arms for her jumps when you’re supposed to use your legs more. The results are jumps that look very laboured.

It’s unfortunate that this technique is engrained because she clearly doesn’t lack for leg strength given the extraordinary height of her 4T. It really seems she is not using her legs to their full potential on her other jumps.

Just curious: for how many seasons was Alina Zagitova a junior? Did she skip novice? I noticed that in the year before her 2016/17 debut, she only had a small set of easier jumps, and she wasn’t invited to do the jgp in the 2015/16 season.

Yeah, i checked this meanwhile https://www.isu.org/inside-isu/isu-...ations/1625-1629-world-standing-sandp-id/file. And what is the motivation to compete as Juniors there then, in your opinion?

For Starr, I think she wanted the junior minimums to keep the option of going to JW open if she doesn't get 4CCs and needs the WS points. For Ksenia, I don't know. Probably to get the minimums and also just get international competition experience? Maybe the federation wasn't going to enter her in the CS senior.

Meanwhile in Zagreb, it will probably be a Russian affair between four girls. Tuktamysheva and Samodurova for Russia, Safonova for Belarus and Ryabova for Azerbaijan.

Will Liza try the quad - maybe I missed that. She must feel pretty defeated after not making the GP final. You could tell she was hungry after missing worlds again last year. Then she brought it to the WTT. With a good skate she moves ahead of Evgenia I guess in the Russian rankings and maybe Alina? though at this point I think she would be jsut ahead of Evgenia. Maybe Evgenia will find her true love in Canada and marry. Then she can skate maybe for Canada. Nam, Nicolas, Roman are all about the same age as her I believe.

You can find Alina's early results (pre-2016/2017 season) incl. novice competitions in the first comment of her thread:

Alina has transfered to Eteri in 2015. In that time her most difficult jumps were only 3S and 2A. Other triples she learned only in Eteri's camp. Internationally she competed as a junior only in 2016/2017 season. In 2015/2016 Alina wasn't assigned to JGP and during the season she broke her hand and leg. At 2016 junior nationals she finished 9th. Is there a problem?
