2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Lombardia entries are up. Samodurova, Shcherbakova, and Tuktamysheva are all assigned, plus Tursynbaeva.

So... basically we are having pre-skate-canada skate off at autumn classic and now pre-skate-america skate off at Lombardia.
Why are they all against the same people all the time?

Who would you schedule otherwise, and what is the reasoning behind your proposed line-up?

Hi !!

I saw some of the videos of the juniors ladies russian test skating and wanted to bring back again one athlete that will compete at the first JGP this week , Maya Kromych.

Truth is that discussion over Kamila Valieva has somehow dissapeared the other skaters from the scene ( this is something that usually happens in figure skating when a skater has something exquisite ) , so I would like to talk about Maya. I find her a really unique skater too. She is quite lyrical till now and i think she has really soft arm movement , although the upper body is a little bit stiff yet. She seems to keep every moment quite longer that other skaters in her age ( for such an age , to be able to have the patience to skate to a slow music and even keep long positions shows a maturity imo ) . I like how she listens to the music and she seems to be connected , although it is early for her to be able to communicate that emotion to the crowd. Technically she is good and staying to tutberidze group i think she will become stronger ! I feel that in the PCS score she has a lot of room to complicate even further her programms ( kamilas seem more complicated and with more transitions ) , but her basic skating skills are really strong ( deep edges in the step sequences too ) .

I really wait to see her debut in this JGP ! :luv17:

I'm not proposing anything, just noticed that a lot of the same people will meet at both challengers, as they are scheduled to meet at their respective GPs later.
I don't know, I just wanted to see different skaters battling each other at least at challengers, would be interesting to see how Alyona vs Evgenia would've looked like, maybe Alexandra vs. Elizaveta too or Anna vs. Rika.
But whatever, fields are pretty stacked anyways so would be interesting to watch, since Young You, Wakaba and Yelim Kim will also be at Lombardia.

I assumed that either Anna or Elizabet would be assigned as their first event is SkAm. No wonder the whole lineup is similar to this event.

Now I assume Alina and Sasha will get Nebelhorn/Nepela and Aliona will go to Finlandia. It kind of works with their schedules.

Is Lombardia open ended by number of entries per federation? There might be some withdrawals once the date nears?
Edit: no, ISU says 3 entries per discipline/federation.

With these stacked fields, there is little chance of 'escaping' each other for too long ;-)

So you are allowed to participate in GP for the "big" price money and the CS for "small" price money and ranking points together and in parallel?

Maya will be nervous for her debut. Skating in domestic competitions is one thing, skating representing Russia for the first time is a whole different experience for a 13 year old.
She will have to learn in dealing with bearing the pressure of expectations, and this can only by learned in practice: it will be her fire baptism (literal translation of Dutch expression, which hopefully applies)
Same goes for Kamila of course. Both girls are direct competitors but will support each other in their competitions.
And Yegor Rukhin from #TeamTutberidzeForProgress will be there too. The other boy contestant Andrey Kutovoy is from Sankt Peterburg, he will be without a team mate but the Khrustalniy skaters will support him nevertheless. When their schedules don't clash you can hear them screaming and cheering in the stands :-)

The trainers probably prepared them for just like any other competition, not adding any additional pressure.

There is a test to name a lady skater by her dress. I scored 20 out of 24 and I was named "a legend". Funny but one of my 4 mistakes was Alina :palmf:

I got the same results!! Kinda shocked with myself for doing so well as I don't really follow dance/pairs at all. I missed the Alina one too, and I should've know it was Zhenya after you said you missed it :dumb:

My reasoning behind my answer was that I thought they'd be accepting the most recent events lol

Naw ...

She's tough as nails and strong as bricks.
Her score: 140 and 66.

Now, this is a bit contradictory, no? Unless she lands a quad there's no way she's getting 140, especially at the beginning.

Do you see any sign of it?

About the same as the signs that people are exploiting the system, gaming the system, working the system, utilizing the system, making the most of the system, squeezing as many points as they can out of the system, etc.

I think getting ~195-197 would be a good result for Maiia. Juniors are not given big components, especially the debuting ones. Kostornaia's best FS last year was only bit above 140. So it's realistic for Maiia to expect around 130-135. But it's hard to predict on new juniors of course.

Those are from domestic competitions , arent they ? Usually , in these competitions there are also bonuses for some elements , so that skaters among russia shall improve on come certain skills . Moreover , in jgp , PCS score is always low , especially if you are new to the scene ( even top juniors dont get above 67-68 ), so it is probable that we wont see more than 130 for the first competition. But i agree , Maya is strong and have good technical score , it remains for her to be consistent in the competitions to come and gain some international reputation.
