According to the description, she fell twice on the first run-through, then skated it again cleanly. There's also a new interview with her from the same event:

She's going to have two 3As in the Free and one 3A in the Short. What she says about the Short is a bit of a head scratcher for me, though. She says it was choreographed by Shae-Lynne and the basis of the program is from her and then even proceeds with "We're considering the musix right now. We might change it, but maybe not".

So, implying that Mishin once again changed and simplified the choreo... :noshake: I really don't know why you would send your skater to a very expensive choreographer if you're going to change most of it anyway. And changing the music, but still using parts of the original choreo that was made for something completely different is even stranger.

It would be better to explore her new side and try a different style.. I'm sure Satoko was saying she had problems with her tango at first as it was a harder/unusual piece to skate to for her, but she worked through it and it came out amazing. Liza needs to keep all of it, I really hope they won't change the music!

Same here.. I just don't get it. Why send a skater to a busy and expensive choreographer if you end up changing not only the choreography but the music altogether... Seems like a waste of money to me.

Indeed. The risk of flame wars, derogative comments, racist comments and spammers is too great in any live stream of a sporting event.

Well, I too am disappointed about Liza's statement on her choreography. She went to one of the most famous and expensive current choreographers, but now she says they may drastically change it? Why not go to a Russian choreographer then. She could save some precious time and money. After all, everything gets watered down by Mishin it seems.

I'm sorry, I might be naive, but are we seriously talking about failure and general problems with managing nerves when all that happened is that Kamilla skated one program in one competition imperfectly? That's quite the overreaction

Let's just say it's not a good omen. Kamila will have ONE Olympics. If she doesn't get a hold of her nerves now it doesn't bode well for the pressure she'll have at her ONE Olympics. She can't go there and bomb the short program, because it's over for gold. I'm sure Kamila will win today, but this should have been a cakewalk for her. It's not setting the stage for what should be an amazing career. It reminds me of Angela Nikodinov who was by far the most talented in her class when she first started out, but since day one she would bomb. The mental aspect needs to be addressed as soon as possible. No one is saying her career is over, but champions have that extra mental strength from the beginning and oftentimes beat far more talented competitors in big competitions solely due to that mental toughness. Let's hope Kamila puts it behind her and blows the field away in a few minutes.

Personally i think the free program is more problematic than the short, but i wouldn't take for granted Shae's work was great anyway, since we haven't seen it.

Perhaps, but choreographers are hired for staging a program, skating skills are better taught by a specialist in that field, separate from learning a new program at the same time. IMO of course

Still, I think 'dedushka' Mishin is wasting valuable time and money this way. Does FFKSPb pay for the choreo, or Tuktamysheva herself?

I really doubt it has anything to do with the quality of Shae's choreo either way. It's how Mishin always works, according to various choreographers who provided programs for his skaters: the end result usually looks nothing like what was originally choreographed. Everything gets moved around and simplified. I really hoped it won't be the case this time, because then why bother paying someone as expensive as Shae-Lynne? And obviously, I hoped to see what Liza can do with a different choreographer, since her programs are usually a tad too simplistic.

I don't know why are people discussing Kamila's chances for the Olympics when she has barely started. I'm glad to see that like 95% of people in this thread aren't making a big deal out of this.

And even if she has problems with the 3Lz, she more than makes for it with the beautiful 4T, which, btw, is the best quad by a lady so far, only second in beauty to that 1 (and unfortunately as of yet only) lutz by Anna at RusNats.

Ugh. It's not just that she fell. Sheesh, ice is slippery you know? But she didn't miss her pick or lose her edge on the landing. That fall was all mental. Sure, in the scheme of things it is no big deal. Hopefully. I'm not THAT worried, and I'm sure she's going to land her quad and win today. Let's just leave it at, comprende?
