2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I am furious about this Sinitsyna debacle. Whoever messed up should suffer the consequences. If this means Sinitsyna misses another assignment I will be even more furious.:dev2:

That’s the tough part. It is the adults that make the mistake but a child who should not be worrying about such things is suffering the consequences. If Ksenia were an adult senior skater you could say look you’re an adult, you and your team are responsible. You should have checked your documents. But she’s not. She is a kid and none of this is her fault. She is assigned to JGP Poland but who knows if she will get another assignment.

It just muddies the waters even more now because if both Nastya and Ksenia went to USA the theoretically one of them could come in 3rd and thus be out of the running, but now USA has become easier for Nastya to win or finish 2nd and Poland may be easier for Ksenia as well. So now both of them could come in 2nd or 1st and need a second assignment and we are down one spot when there already weren’t enough.

However I am not seeing good things about Anna Tarusina’s condition. Everything is very uncertain with the Davydov girls. Another thing that makes me sad. Anna has already been through a lot. I wanted JGPF for her last year and if not for her coach’s silly error making her do the wrong spin and the weird politicking once Yelim stepped up for team #EveryoneElse I do believe she would have made it. She deserves this chance so much.

But really though euler is a silly jump....I don't think it should be considered a jump, it's a mere....connection if you will.

What cracks me up is when a "real" caller calls a DG on a 1/2 loop!!!! But if you pay attention, that 1/2 loop is usually underrotated by most skaters! It's funny to see, a DG 1/2 loop!! Valieva and Tarakanova have picture perfect euler combos.

1Eu<< was what cost Panfilova/Rylov the Jr World title last year. The only mistake in the entire program was someone essentially not taking a big enough step, everything else was flawless. M/G fell on the combination. If not for 1Eu<< P/R win. I was shocked at how close that was and what it came down to.

Lets stop with this VISA discussion and focus on the performance of tarakanova tomorrow evening!

At least, on this season, we'll not see anymore the UR call on the euler.

Single Euler (1Eu) missing half a revolution or more will be considered as downgraded. In this case the judges will apply the reduction for a downgraded jump(<<). If the Single Euler is missing less than half a revolution, it will not be considered as under-rotated (<) by the technical panel. If the Single Euler is not clearly jumped or it is executed as a step over, the judges will apply a reduction in GOE.

I'm disappointed but it's an administrative error, the Russian Fed should have anticiped....

The small Fed succeeded to send their figure skaters.

Next time they will be carefoul.

I think is indicative that the Russian Fed needs to require all of their junior and senior National and reserve teams provide all possible necessary travel documents that a skater would need throughout the season. This is 2 times that we've heard in the last 2 years where a skater and now a coach as well didn't handle their business in keeping their travel documents in order. Last season it was Zagitova and her team that had not kept her travel documents in order that caused her to miss competitions and it wasn't the first time that happened involving her, and now its Sinitsyna and her coach that is costing the Russian Fed a valuable JGP spot. Perhaps they need to withhold funding till skaters provide this documentation or financially penalize those involved when something like this happens.

Yes, let's change the subject. Sasha Trusova has AMAZING hair. Discuss.

Now here's something we can agree on! I saw someone tweet that she should do an ex with music from Tangled and I couldn't agree more. The only problem would be that she couldn't probably jump too much with her hair down, and we all know how much she loves to jump!

Tarakanova 'defends' Russia alone in Lake Placid, Sinitsyna will 'defend' Russia again in Gdansk, unless FFKKR changes assignments again.

I hope both girls strike up bond of comradery with Alysa Lyu, no cold war emotions between them. Just skating for your worth, showing what you've learned, showing your pleasure in life and the sport you choose :-)

Only the entries of 7th JGP in Egna is still to be decided. Another chance for Sinitsyna? Valiyeva, Kanysheva and Tarakanova are all done by then.

I think Uscaheva should get one of those spots should she do well in Riga. Then maybe Sinitsina (I really hope so) if she does well, or one of the Dayvdov girls. It will probably depend on how they all do, but it'll be interesting to see who they initially assign.

A skater with underotated jumps and poor skating can't be a monster
I guess you didn't see her amazing performances at the Aurora games.

Okay then little Alysa a mini monster. ;)

I don't like the Russian figure skating Federation at all anyway and this debacle with the passport makes me have even more disdain for them. Especially since someone reported that ksenia was in the United States recently. It kind of makes you go hmmmm.

Lakernik does not agree with you. He said that Liu skates like adult skater :palmf: I think they agreed already what PCS Liu should get - so don't be surprised after seeng her PCS scores soon :sarcasm:

Lakernik is right. :) But all he really did was be kind to everybody he spoke about. would you expect the vice president of the international skating union to be anything but complementary to skaters? Of course not. Alysa is the shiny new star.

To think that one tiny American girl could melt down the Russian ladies thread this season is hard to believe. Lol. But it could happen.

Of course this thread could melt down on its own like after Kamila's short program when she fell and Ksenia didn't get her trip to the United States the face off against Liu. Hoping we survive test skates at this point. ;)

You really don't know what was the particular problem in this case. Whatever we can think about some of the rusfed's decisions, they are not almighty and it could have been a ton of things that they couldn't affect in any way, esp. when something depends on just one official's decision. Also remember that this does not happen only in figure skating. Overcomplicated bureaucratic procedure is a danger of itself (I should know it for I am an official myself ;) ).
