2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Inna Goncharenko proves to be...]

Her opinions are really something. Not that I would agree with everything, but I always have the feeling that she has the ability to see things different than anybody else.

You don't have to , neither do I :-)
But in general I am in agreement, that's why I like to read and translate her interview and articles, and there are quite a lot of those.
I like how she is outspoken but not denigrating, gets straight to the heart of the matter. Being sort of retired allows her this freedom of speech.

Is she is still respected and trusted by the still actively working trainers? I have this feeling her opinions on certain matters are shared by many other trainers who are not yet in the position to speak them out in public.

The ISU overall JGP schedule and ranking list has been updated: http://www.isuresults.com/events/jgp2019/jgpsladies.htm
Frolova has a start in Croatia that doesn't match the individual stages?
Tarusina seems definitely out.

More light homework assignments for ISU's secretaries also.

Maiia still has entries both in Riga and Poland according to this, that means it is still not with all corrections. So it can be completely different next week :)

I pretty much agree with everything. IMO she pretty much nails it with every observation. I hope she will continue to offer her opinions, and I hope the powers-to-be listen to them.

With Tarusina basically confirmed out due to injury (she’s not even on the sub list for the last event), it seems like everyone will get 2 JGP spots except Vasilieva and Frolova. Of course if Vasilieva gets a silver in Russia then I think she will get a 2nd (replacing Frolova), but this is highly unlikely with Valieva and Sinitsyna in Russia as well.

To me, it seems like next week will be Valieva, Sinitsyna and Vasilieva, then Kanysheva and Tarakanova, then Usacheva and Frolova, and finally Kanysheva and Sinitsyna.

But who knows, assignments are changing daily.

Moscow Open junior Championship.
Short program of girls and boys.
Livestream (3 hours countdown):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddfb7KD7tjg

Thanks. The only way to keep this stream is to screen-record it, since there is no guarantee the copyright cops will not strike it down straight after conclusion.
Usually, clips with the most interesting routines appear here or there.

Playing hits during warmups is a sure way to get a copyright strike :-(

I use Youtube-dl.exe program to record live streams because of that reason.

Not sure I agree with the order but can’t argue with the top 6 skaters in this event. Everything will be decided tomorrow. A lot of girls lost levels on spins and steps today - maybe a bit nervous/rusty at competing for the first time this season. Hopefully they can be a bit more confident tomorrow.

"Also, in my opinion, Valiyeva’s short program has too many leg lifts."
OMG THIS.

[Emphasis added.] This two-word comment receives more "thumbs-up" than any other comment in the previously 120 / 8 pages.
This is really the issue that most anguishes/intrigues/entertains some, Kamila's SP leg-extensions?
Shockingly, this comment receives even more endorsements than the lengthy, interesting interview Edwin provided, from which it was abstracted.

To me, there's something reminiscent in the Kamila leg-extension comments reminiscent of ill-considered "Anna's tiny jumps" that we heard the last two seasons, or Sasha's frequent accusations of "childish" skating. (Look where those led.)

Perhaps it escaped some people's attention, but Kamila's SP had a unmistakeable reworking at the time of the Khrystalnii birthday festival, presumably in anticipation of this season's challenges, which actually included less of the leg thing that still now so bothers some, and a generally busier programme with less time for holding positions, another thing that is drawing criticism, even though the Eteri team has proven their mastery at constructing winning busy programmes.

Sofia Akatieva has a interesting SP, that show helped her to perform better, she grew up a lot and is already becoming well-known for someone who isn’t even an international junior. Well deserved as she’s a skilled skater. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL2OyIdAVgc

Elizaveta Berestovskaia looked less "natural", maybe she was nervous in the first part- oh, man she also matured a lot, looks taller https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHuW5-e_m2o

Ksenia Tsibinova was brillant, she skates with so much maturity for her age https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-wv-ygIKGA

Sofia Samodelkina looked a bit nervous too, good SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksK3lr-fH6I&t

Anna Frolova is also lovely and delicate, but I don't quite like this program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgtCDy0y4B0

I'm starting to like better Davydov's skaters than Panova's. Better jumps and packaging, more like Eteri's. He is coming after her :))

It's a matter of personal taste. Nothing offensive or deeper meant by it, at least not by me. I'm not obsessed with particular skaters, nor am I preoccupied with trashing others. What I object to is skating taking the path of rhythmic gymnastics--becoming contortionism. After a certain point, the hyper flexy thing is just ... ugh. You don't need to bend yourself in half to be a beautiful artistic skater with good extension. I would say the majority of comments about the leg lift thing are about this development, which many of us consider to be too much.
