2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Man how I've missed seeing the 4A skate! They are in a class of their own - technically superb, wonderfully confident, and simply sublime!

For a test skates, that was pretty good!

Team Tutberidze really looked prepared today, it was amazing! This trio + Alina is part of the reason we are so spoiled that we freak out when the new juniors make mistakes on the JGP. As for Alina, I love her program and especially the step sequence. Her jumps also looked amazing! The combo was so high and beautiful, as was the flip with that stunning entry. And people were saying she was done after the olympics. For Anna, she was lovely as always, and I liked the combo entry. I am so excited to see her fp music choice. For Sasha, I think I liked it! I saw some really pretty positions in the first, slower section, and I think it looked great. The step sequence also has some amazing potential! and boy was her 2a high, and her other two jumping passes were absolutely amazing. I hope we get to see her 3a (its still unclear whether she's landed it in practice or not right? but the 2a definitely has room). And then there is Alyona. Still sad she didn't get a new sp, but of course the old one is beautiful. I'm sad to see that amazing and powerful lutz entry go, but I think we'll see it in the free.

As for the rest, there were rough moments, but it's test skates so it doesn't matter. Liza had a beautiful 3A, but unfortunately you can really tell that she's using choreo meant for different music. There are moments when it works, like that pretty back extension thing (idk what its called), but at other times it just makes no sense.

A thought just struck me, why was Alyona skating in thin tights, openly displaying the Kinesotape on her knees? A trick to deceive us? The tape could have been flesh coloured or Alyona could have worn the usual thick skating tights to hide the tape?

Still all jumps looked effortless with perfect exits at speed. What does Kinesotape in this application actually do? Stabilise the kneecap? Any skater needs to have fully strong ligaments in her knee. Alyona not having been given a new program (as we know of) might indicate they had to take it easy with her over Novogorsk?

Also did anybody notice kostornaya correct lutz edge? :D <3
Not a big edge expert, but apparently there were improvements already last season. I hope it's good enough to repeat in FP. That would bring her much closer to competitors with -3Lo combos and difficult elements. Is she training 3A or quads? Her toe and flip are very strong, maybe she can add one more rotation.

Also, it is so amazing that Russia is able to almost fill a huge stadium for a test event where most aren't even in costumes. The support from the crowd was unreal! It really improves mood of the event. It makes sense though, what a world class line up!

It's actually not inside anymore. Slight outside, but a convincing outside. There were improvements last season too.

Fully agree! What will the costume be? This routine is so aethereal, strange music made liquid, grace made tangible, emotion made palpable, Olga Ryabina must have created something equally outstanding to dress Anna for her first senior season.
I adore the costume to be honest. :)
But yeah, I think this theme needs some red vibe in the dress due to the character of the story and the movie poster.

Anyway, if she skates clean (the slightest error will spoil it all, imo) and the audience get involved into the performance while not clapping too much, it may become feast for the soul.

If this were a competition, this would be my positions:
1. Alina Zagitova

3. Anna Scherbakova
4. Aliona Kostornaia
5. Evgenia Medvedeva
6. Stanislava Kosntatinova
7. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
8. Sofía Samodurova

Hmm, yeah, I think I agree with that

LOL, Aleksandra all sweating and panting straight off the ice being interviewed for 1tr.vu: https://www.1tv.ru/-/iknfu After last seasons' succes, she could hardly wait for the new. Sasha's content over todays' FS, but will want to skate just as good tomorrow. She looks very much forward to Bratislava, Japan Open and her first Grand Prix start.

Alyona's https://www.1tv.ru/-/itafs Alyona feels responsible in showing her best because the trainers invested so much in her skating. She doesn't feel intimidated by her compatriots, just wants to skate clean, to show her best side and prove herself.

All the young skaters appreciated the atmosphere, felt the support of the spectators and found these Open Test Skates a wonderful experience, almost equal to a real competition.

Alina still has bad posture and choppy skating skills

Just realised that Senior season starts for real next week with Autumn Classic and Medvedeva. Apparently Bradie Tennell has withdrawn, but Kihira will be there so Zhenya needs to bring her best A game.

Also Lombardia Trophy with Anna, Sofia and Liza.

Anyone have bootleg videos of the test skates? One's I've seen uploaded are already blocked.

Tiny Boss looked like she knew what she was doing out there today and I’m here for it :cheer:

I watched it live in the Arena and it was 1000 times better than watching it on youtube. I'll post some pics later
