2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Full rotation on both jumps, much less than 90° on-ice rotation at the landings. Difficult spiral entry, good height for a skater's size, neat and tight position in the air, Rippon arms, stable landing right into next choreo element.

I agree that the loop was close enough that it would have gotten full credit from a lot of technical panels. I would have given it full credit, and it was more rotated than a lot of the jumps we saw at 2019 Worlds.

Eteri did not make her skaters put in a million transitions for THIS

Well, maybe it's finally quality versus quantity. If this makes Eteri remove some of the clutter from the programs, than HALLELUJAH. All of them skate better at Galas and shows when they don't have to constantly twirl, turn, flap and flail and grab their legs.

And seriously, why is everybody acting like Anna ended up dead last? It reminds me of drama during the Olympics when Alina had to take doping test and drink some water and people acted as if this is a conspiracy to make her gain weight and mess with her jumps.

I swear if ISU want to muck up Alena pcs as well i will :dev2:.

I don't think they will mess with Alena ... Alena keeping her SP from last year ( a program that is almost perfect to 99,9% of the people) will keep the judges to mess her pcs ... in the other hand alena don't have the higher TES or a 3A ir a 4 ... so judges won't mess with the PCS

Ok, I watched the video and as many was not able to see an underrotation on that loop either in real time or in slow motion.:confused2:

Yes, I have watched the replay on Anna's backend triple loop at .25 speed and there is no hook on landing. The need to underscore was so urgent that it had to be spread out over deflated PCS and a bogus ur call. Anna had good speed, erect posture and fine musical expression. Almost every comment under Anna's SP video on youtube claims she was underscored many of them in English, which shows the judges lost credibility in scoring. I also thought Young You was relatively underscored but not as much as Anna.

Amen, preach. Words cannot even describe how much I loathe this trend.

If judges are going to give 10s for transitions for people spasming themselves all across the ice (accepting at least that it is difficult to do), then they should at least compensate fairly by giving them 0.5s for composition.

And she immediately started a spin after a combo without a hestitation. If combo was problematic, spin would be delayed at least or even not done well. And you need to have really great technical ability to perform a combo of triple-triple loop-spin in the second half. Experienced judges would know those things ;)

Oh, please, if you think that Andrews's program, who got 1 point less on components, is more quality than Anna's, then we have nothing to discuss.

Let's say this competition was harsher on scores and Anna got the appropriate marks, what she trully deserves for this SP.... then some of her competitors are overscored. Zero balance across performances. This is creating a toxic environment around these girls. The russians are posting such harsh things on that youtube video, it's disturbing.

I just hope it doesn’t discourage Anna too much. Personally I think this SP is beautiful

I admire the beauty and difficulty of Anna doing an arabesque spiral with fine posture and position as a transitional entrance into a triple lutz with rippon tano / triple loop combo, even though the judges are intent on underscoring as so many have commented on.

Congrats to Zhenya for 2 clean performances and winning the silver medal!

Good luck to the ladies competing tomorrow! :hap10:

Since the free skate has officially ended we are now allowed to discuss it! I'll just say that Evgenia has got one of the most amazing costumes I have ever seen. Satomi really did her best with her kimono.

The 2nd place is not bad considering that the gold medalist landed 3 clean triple axels. I'm happy Zhenya delivered a much better performance than last week. Many people were worried how two important skates that close would affect her, but she really didn't mind it seems.

It's also worth mentioning that Technical Panel was pretty strict at ACl. Evgenia got an e and a ! for each of her lutzes plus two underrotations.

Now good luck to the six Russian ladies competing tomorrow!

I think Evgenia should be really pleased with her performance here- it is a great start to the season for her- especially considering she must be exhausted from travel. She is a fighter.

Good luck to the ladies tomorrow!

Interestingly, the judging was a little harsher today against Kihira and Medvedeva. Both had two UR's and Zhenya got called with an ! and an e on her Lutzes. But job well done by Zhenya. Much better than at Test Skates. I do think I prefer her short more though.

My eyes hurt from amount of urs in Autumn Classics - half of Evgenia's and couple of Rika's jumps were clearly under. Of course the lenient judging fest goes on all over the world apart from northern Italy. :sarcasm:
Also that might have been the most ornate bathrobe I've ever seen... :rolleye:
