2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Does anyone know which coaches from team Tutberidze are going to their various events this weekend? I assume Rozanov will go with Sofia Akatieva and co to COR stage 2, but who will go to Denis Ten vs. Finlandia. Assuming Eteri is staying at home to prepare the rest of the skaters for their GP assignments, I would think Daniil would take one comp and Dudakov the other. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Aliona at a comp with just Daniil, so maybe Dudakov will go with her to Finland and Daniil will go to Kazakhstan? Any coach sightings today?

Dudakov usually went with Alena to her JGP events, so I feel like he will probably go with her to Finlandia. It's hard to tell which coach she prefers more. She seems to be equally as close to each of them, maybe a little closer with Dudakov. I don't think we will find out who is with her until the practices start.

Assuming Konstantinova and Samodurova don't make the cut (to judge by their results shows until this day) FFKKR has an A and a B team. The A team goes to Worlds and the B to Europeans?

If I remember correctly, RusFed has a rule that says that the first two (seniors) at RusNats will go to Europeans. The third spot are decided by the council.
Looking back through the years, it has indeed always been the first two at RusNats, and the third spot are mostly the senior who ends up in third place (like last year - Konstantinova, Zagitova and Samodurova). The most famous consequence for this "rule" is back in 1999 when Slutskaya finished 4th at RusNats and wasn't chosen to go to either Europeans or Worlds. Slutskaya had the year before taken silver at both Europeans and Worlds and came 5th at the 98 Olympics. Slutskaya almost gave up figure skating at that point.

For Worlds they sometimes switch one competitor, often the one that was the least successful at Europeans. (And that happened last year). But mostly it is the same team as in Europeans.

So no, I don't think we will have a separate Europeans and Worlds team.

And we might end up with a scenario that e.g. Alina places 4th at RusNats and won't be chosen for either Europeans or Worlds.

For me, it's flat. Not great, not terrible. :)
Also, it's nice to see someone who only posts in one thread to come over here, just to annoy an other skater's fans. :rolleye:
And not to be a hypocrite, I also hate when the opposite camp does this.

It´s nice to see you know more than me why I posted it.

Zagitova´s Lutz edge at Japan Open. It looks inside edge for me.

Pretty sure its just the moment you chose to screencap.

You don’t judge an edge by a still motion, that’s not really how it works. And even so, the edge is still flat, at worst in that point of view. If that’s an inside edge I suspect we all need to get our eyes checked. Skaters who don’t have an inside edge don’t suddenly develop an inside edge overnight, that’s really not how it works. Technique is based on habit, which is what makes a flutz so difficult to fix. And in that same vein, so is having an outside edge. Alina has always had a slight outside edge since the beginning of time. She’s had variances as to the degree throughout the course of the last season, but its always been slightly outside, even at her worst performances.

I chose the moment when the toe-pick hits the ice. Do you suggest otherwise?:)

okay explain, how do I judge a lutz edge? A pic is a good option.

It looks different than her World lutz(see pic) for example. I say it´s inside, you say it´s flat edge. I guess everything is fine, different opinions:thumbsup:

the thing with lutz takeoff edges is the non-picking foot passes through a position that i would call a false inside edge on the way through to the lift. the foot doesn't always stay looking "outside" because it's in the process of turning to begin rotation, creating a "false" inside edge in a lot of cases. i hope that makes sense.

this is why you can't really use a picture to judge.

I know, skater with PR have the look of a "false" inside edge at the beginning of the rotation (the camera angle plays also a role).

Still, I think a pic is a good option. You need to screenshot at the right time. You can see it on their arms and upper body where exactly is the rotation.

For example Tursynbaeva, you can see that the rotation is at the starting point and it will not create a "false image"

Are there any informations on how the Russian fed will select the two junior ladies for the Youth Olympic Games? Sorry if it has already been discussed elsewhere...

Superior score for Dar’ya’s beautiful routine in Almaty :-)
