2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

if Anna would only get 70 then she is not much of a challenger. That means Wakaba, Kaori and Bradie who arent the top tier are far far ahead. I guess I thought Anna was more higly regarded. Guess not.

Seriously? It's her first senior about halfway around the world a crazy time zone for her body. In my opinion that should not have been Annas first Grand Prix event. But it is what it isand she has to make up for her short program in her free skate tomorrow.

Anna's quick improvement on the 4Lz consistency is really commendable. According to the practice notes, on the first day she attempted 5 and landed 4, second day she attempted 1 and landed 1, and today she attempted 3 and landed 3. 8 out of 9 across 3 practice sessions. That's an amazing improvement from last year, or even from Lombardia.

Stanislava should use sport psychologist. This is such a vicious cycle to her. She messes up and surely must be aware of the backlash, which probably affects her in her skating.

We seen she can land her stuff. She gets highish PCS. But if you fall twice in SP and underrotate... no chances to get too far :(
I agree with you but I don't ever think she will get a sport psychologist. Stasya knows there is a backlash against her and I personally think it bothers her. But she's done nothing about it. I don't expect her to. I expect you to skate a lot better in the free skate and the rest of the season. But it is alarming she had such a poor SP.

She is improving fast. Anna is so hungry I'm wants to do everything I only hope she takes it step-by-step and if she's not massively successful right away as a senior it won't bother her.

Can you link the interview where she said she doesn't have a sports psychologist/doesn't plan to get one/doesn't want one? You seem to be quite certain she isn't doing anything about it, I'm just wondering where you got this information?

For all I know, she could be seeing one but it's not helping her enough. Carroll said he brought Gracie Gold to many psychologists but they didn't really help. The mental game is different for everyone.

Stasya has said multiple times that she works with a sports psychologist.

I think Liza competed at Finlandia because Lombardia didn't go as team Mishin planned/expected. So she and her coaches decided to do the second to work out the kinks before SA. Had she won Lombardia she probably would have withdrawn from the second challenger to rest.

That's the problem with trying to play catch up and not have everything ready. I know its early and most skaters simply see the challengers as a warm up before the GP starts, but they will usually have their programs finished for the most part, trained and practiced. If they make any changes it usually something small (unless the programs get real bad feedback). You don't see anyone fiddling around with their content to the extent Liza has been.

I know Liza wasn't at nationals last year but Sofia was so Mishin should have seen with his own eyes what was coming with the Eteri girls. Even before nationals if he had been paying attention to the junior competitions he would have seen it. Yet somehow he didn't make any changes and appears shocked as if it all suddenly in the blink of an eye. He's been caught totally flat footed and too slow at moving

It seems to me that Mishin and Liza works this way every year. Looking back, she was at Lombardia and Finlandia the last couple of years. Three years ago it was Finlandia and Nebelhorn.

Her busiest year was her World Champion year 2014-15 when she was at Finlandia, Nebelhorn and Cup of Nice before her GPs Skate America and Cup of China. Then she did another Challenger, Warsaw Cup, before the GPF.

Maybe Mishin's philosophy is that competing a lot makes perfect.

Yay! Let’s pray she lands both quads tonight for redemption

People, I'm sorry, I understand that the moment is not successful, but Liza’s actually really has bad rotation on 3A - she landing on toepick and twists about 90 degrees (this time even seems a little more) on ice. It's landing Alyse Liu-style. Yes, she has a big height of this jumpe (maybe confusion arises because of this?), but not a high enough rotation speed.

I'm too lazy to make a video. Just check yourself frame by frame, it's easy - pause, to move the video one frame forward - press a dot '.', to return one frame back - press a comma ','.

Well, I do not say that here must certainly call UR. But this is definitely not good, "lacking rotation", "Alyse Liu-style".

Just I'm so tired to hear that she has the "best axel technique in the world" (Mishin said this recently and now everyone in RuNet is repeating it)

I agree with you, I always asked me why I can't saw the completely perfection of her 3a that everyone were talking about, I couldn´'t tell why if she has perfect technique in this jump her axel doesn't look to fluid and with what you say I understand that is because of actually lack of rotation, not to have an under but enough to make the exit not that fluid, also the preparation for this jump is long and she recurves a lot before jumping, she also lacks a little with displacement, now I understand why judges don´t give her to much GOE in this jump compared to Rika's one, Rika 3a is way better than hers in those topics and I don´t know why people say liza 3a is textbook and way better than rika when it is not, Rika 3a is so efortless that impressed a lot, the worst thing is that there is a video saying that Rika's axel is cheated and they put elizaveta as comparision of a perfect axel but both jumps looks the same when they leaves the ice exactly in each competition, I think people are taking to serious what it is saying about her "textbook axel" (that is still one of my favorites), there is no difference about rika and liza's axel on the exit technique, I think she needs to improve those things if she wants to reach +3.00 GOE or more on that jump, the transitions will not help her until that chance, this is only my opinion, Elizaveta is my favorite russian skater but this is something I always note when I saw her triple axel.

She got 67.60 with a UR combo and a fall. Without the fall, she would've had an additional 1 point (no deduction) plus around 2.5 points of GOE (1.34 added back to get to 0 and GOE around 1-1.25). That's already 71. If she didn't have a UR combo with a poor landing, she would've gained 1 point in BV, 1 point in GOE to bring her to 0, and around 1 more point in positive GOE hopefully, so around 3 more points, bringing her 74. She likely would've had a 0.5 point or 1 point higher in PCS without those disruptions, too, so around 74.5 or 75. For someone in her second senior event, that would've been very good, and her PCS would've risen in future competitions.

Anna's strongest program is her FS because it's where she can do quads. It's this program that makes her a challenger because it includes her quad(s). In the SP, she doesn't have a quad because she can't, so she really runs away in the FS when she lands the quad. So, I think she still has good potential to be a challenger.
Thanks for doing the math. People got too worrysome over my comment. I was mainly speaking about today. :)

I nearly overslept but woke up just for Anna, Anna Anička (dimunitive).
:clap::clap::clap:
