Ok, OT, but what's with so many people saying that her costumes are bad? They're not something super special (though I think the kimono is very pretty), but certainly not so bad that they would distract from the performance. Maybe I have a different taste, but her outfits are just what I would expect a normal top skater to wear.

BTW I think that there are some similarly interresting things between ladies and pairs competition in IdF. In ladies it is mostly about Alina and Aliona and in pairs about Mishina/Galliamov and Pavliuchenko/Khodykin. I know whom Aliona will be cheering for

Figures speak for themselves, today’s winning stars, exciting, setting records, vs ‘yesterday’s child’ not doing so well in the general public’s view.

#TeamBOrser’s ‘packaging’ isn’t helping here, Medvyedeva is visually less appealing to the younger audiences.

It is inevitable for athletes to fade, general populace’s memory is short, attention span even shorter.
No results, no exposure in today’s fast moving mainstream media.

That's a bit unkind, I like Zhenya's costumes! They're different and interesting...I'm always behind a unitard and the FS costume really fits with the theme. Her programs are also powerful, which is interesting too.

I think people watched Skate Canada for a variety of reasons. Most people don't watch a competition for just one skater, except maybe Yuzu fans

Anyway, I think it's great figure skating is so popular in Russia. Here in Australia we have quite a wait for SBS to show highlights from the GP series in glorious hi-def. In the meantime we have to stream and I don't about my fellow Aussies, but my internet can only stream stuff in low quality.

The quad rivalry of Veronika and Sofiya (tTutberidze's) is going to be something to watch with immense enjoyment over the next couple of seasons. Sofiya is also developing her trixels, no doubt inspired by long-time rival, Sofiya (tDavydov's). I wouldn't be surprised to see quads developing in Alina (Zh), who is already an accomplished skater and has the same strong build as her big sister. Somewhere there is a clip of the two sisters doing a lo o n g cantilever of the Alexandra--Shoma variety. Adelya could also surprise us soon with unassisted quads. She has an Alexandra-type build and in fact reminds me of Alexandra in her skating.

I was watching the NBC coverage of Skate Canada-and Tara actually referred to Veronika-but not by name. Tara said that now, even 11 year olds were doing quads. (This was after her 4S was posted on twitter) Both girls have huge talent, is the younger sister also with Eteri? Also, kudos to their mother who got them to their current level-I don't know anything about the mother's skating career, but she must be a great coach.

The amount of news stories about Medvedeva should be an indication. Maybe Alina is more liked now but Evgenia is still constantly asked about in interviews. Now will that change is Sasha becomes as dominant? Sure. But although extremely likely, it hasn't happened yet.

Welcome! Everyone here is already accustomed to the fact that any harmless mention of Medvedeva or Zagitova in any context, independently of each other, as a result the most incredible way often turns into a battle of several pages.

I would say this not about likes or dislikes, but about PR.
Kind of same thing we had last year where, every time Alina would compete, there were tons of interviews saying how she is done and how Medvedeva is great.

No, this is a big lie, Alina's fans didn't have a separate sector. She had support throughout the stadium.

This whole discussion is pointless and it was started because someone said Medvedeva drove all the views at SC.
We don’t know who did, SC had a lot of wonderful skaters, the event was stacked.
Unless people have some reliable data on the number of people streaming per skater, let’s leave the question to rest.
